Savannah Events in November
I'll post details and cache pages as soon as possible, but I wanted to let everyone know what is in the works so that you can make your travel plans. First, on the evening of Friday the 12th, dinner at the Shellhouse around 6 or 7. Second, sometime before noon on Saturday the 13th, a canoe trip on the Ogeechee River that will end up at the GGA meeting (with a couple of caches along the way). I can provide 8 canoes complete with paddles & pfd's and help with shuttling. And some of the local cachers have canoes that they will bring. Kayaks will work too if anyone wants to bring one. I'll post exact times and locations as soon as all the details are worked out. |

Are jet skis out of the question??

I was going to bring mine as a support craft.

Penny, I had posted a cache page this weekend before reading these topics closely. Let me know when you have additional info and I can add it to the page. If you want to send me HTML via email like you did last year that would be fine.

Well everybody comes to my town and i leave for another town.
That weekend I will be in Auburn for the game and to see my friends. (Not an Auburn fan but not a UGA fan, Tennessee actually, but AU will prevail that night!) Happy Hunting! -Amazingracer It's about who controls the information Marty! |

Coordinates for the November GGA meeting are N 32° 58.710 W 081° 17.172 This message has been edited. Last edited by: Penny & Chaos, |

I don't know how the canoe trip "finding mission" will go, but the hiding mission was excellent! The containers are well hidden and well diguised. The trip should take you @ 3-1/2 hrs. including finding caches at a leisurely pace. You will be able to pick a total of 5 caches on the trip including bspeng's "Do you mind if I Barge in?" as an approx. starting point. Tips: Bring boots, DEET, dry clothes and bag, water, first aid kit, etc., and do not dance in your canoe! Look for the "Barging Mission #1-4" to be posted next week to allow meeting goers a chance at FTF's.

Sorry to go off topic, but interesting story...
My boss and I are leaving work walking down the corridor to the parking garage. It is like 7:30 or so. A guy is walking by himself down the corridor toward us. I'm looking at him and I give him a nod "hey". I look at my boss and whisper "man, that was Vince Dooley wasn't it?" He says "Yeah, think so." and being the good GT grad that he is he starts humming the GT fight song. He he. WAR EAGLE by the way!!! OK, back to the topic at hand. |

I won't be able to make the meeting or any of the other events. But if anyone needs to borrow a canoe AND has a way to get it from my house to the river, give me a shout. Actually, I have three available, but you have to have your own paddles, life jackets, etc.

I love it when the northern & middle Georgia cachers come to Savannah!! You guys are great!!
And we're really starting to get alot of cachers in Savannah and the Low Country area. I'm sorry that we were outside in the cold, but I swear that it's normally still 70+ degrees in Savannah in November & December. I loved getting the extra social time with old & new friends Friday night and Saturday night over seafood. Thanks again to Toolteam and Lil Moose & Big Bear for pre-running the canoe trip, hiding 4 caches and then leading the actual canoe trip. The trip may have been my idea and I borrowed and conveyed the canoes, but the trip would not have happened without their help! I also want to publicly thank my husband & son. Without their muscle & time for driving, I could not have gotten the canoes. We had a final total of 7 canoes & 17 people on the river. Can't wait to see the pictures! |

What a great day! Thanks to Penny and Family for getting us in and out of the River. I can't remember when I had more fun.
Jeeptoysrus, GeoJeepGirl and I made the run down the river in just over 2 hours and 15 minutes. TEAM WORK! ToolTeam and BigBear & Lil'Moose did a great job of placing the caches. If you haven't seen the work that has been done in the J.F.Gregory Park - it is worth the trip! Awesome and inspiring! Looking forward to completing the caches there. I was great to see everyone. My photos are up on the Event Page... Why are my arms sore this morning? Bob |

quote: Penny, You forgot to mention 2 in the river No pics from me. Camera is dead for certain, cell phone is iffy, but since it is covered under insurance I'll probably replace it. BTW our track log for the canoe trip came out to 6.5 miles and I can feel every one of them this morning. We had a great time and can't wait to get back to Savannah. Zack |

Wow 6.5 miles. I figured it was about that far but with all the excitement it didnt seem that long. I guess if we had to paddle the 6.5 miles back it would have made me start cussing. Oh and Penny we did not get to go on the cruise it came back early for winds so thats a good thing. Jeepgirls grandmother went into the hosp last week and we got a call last night that she needed to come up to NY today as things are not looking good. It seems she only has a few days left so we left for Atlanta in the middle of the night. I think we got about 12 hours of sleep for the 3 nights 4 days we were there. But the Event was great for her as it kept her mind occupied. Sorry to add a sad note but just so everyone knows if she seemed down that was why.
