I've seen a few posts and note logs for the Nov. GGA meeting that they won't be able to make the 4 hour one way trip and 4 hour trip back since they can't stay overnight. An alternative if you still need a geocaching meeting fix is the SCGA Nov. Meeting just over the Georgia line in Anderson SC. From Atlanta metro, it is about 1 hour 45 mins one way (if you obey speed limits, and less if you bend the limits ) The main topic is the utility GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife). The event page says the meeting will be from 1pm till 5pm, but it is doubtful it will run a full 4 hours. Kenneth

We have decided to leave the camper at home. That way we won't go over our credit card limit buying gas. We'll find a flop house on I95 near the center of activity. We will bring an extra canoe too.

Here's a site I've been looking at wishfully thinking. Cheep discounts if ya can get 'em. Looks like it will be too costly for me to attend (2 nites restaurant/2 nites motel/round trip gas), but maybe you can find a reasonable price here. Lodging Specialsedited to fix url

. . . without a cache.

I went through Priceline.com and got a room for 50 bucks a night at the Courtyard by Marriot Midtown. Not too shabby at all. I may have room in the car for a passenger or two. Am leaving Friday around noon and returning Sunday AM. If interested, drop me a note.

For those of you speed demons, be careful when driving down 16. You will either plenty of cops staked out along the road or see absolutely none at all. While they have many of hiding places, the GSP and local cops like to park on the little connecting roads that exist when the interstate is spilt and the median is a forest, be careful there. Just figured Id pass along the info. Happy Hunting! -Amazingracer It's about who controls the information Marty!

That's not bad. I understand wanting to avoid the congested areas. MS Streets and Trips suggested this. I just punched in a preference for backroads. Main point is for you get to Augusta and then to Savannah.

Speed limit is all 70 all the way down 16 to around Chatam county were it turns to 65, so your ok. Also be warned we have red light cameras, but the on-road message boards sometimes tell you where they are (defeats the purpose I think) and such an intersection is easily recognizable thanks to the giant grey pole and box in the median. Ertman, not sure if your a cop but I dont mean any offense, but watch out for cops too, not for your speeding, but for their speeding and bad driving.
