Ok just a quick question. Will there be a shuttle car from the meeting back to the starting point of the canoe trip? Or are we shuttling from the meeting to the canoe launch? We may have to leave the meeting early to get back to river street for the casino cruise. So if we park at the canoe launch how do we get back to the cars. Whew I thought it was a quick question.

Anyone who can, should carpool with someone else, leaving a vehicle at each end.
I will have my van to help shuttle people back to the launch point. But I didn't plan to leave the meeting early to do it. I don't plan to go back to canal until after dinner. The parking lot at the canal is private and our vehicles will be safe there. |

Could we set a time and meet at the meeting location and then ride in your van to the launch site? I'm not sure if we're staying in town for dinner after the meeting or not.

I'll be loading, hauling & unloading canoes before the meeting. I'm borrowing them from about an hour away.

I think we are gonna park at the meeting site and take a cab to the canoe trip so we will have the car at the meeting. Unless something else pops up thats the plan.

Jeeptoysrus: If you'll give me a ride back to the launch site I'll give you a lift from the meeting spot to the launch site. I can stop by the launch site and drop the family off and then come pick you guys up. If anyone else wants a lift I should be able to get 2 more people in the Xterra.

Sounds like a plan zack. We planned on taking a 2 seater down but it looks like the lift for the Jeep will not be here till the end of the week so I think we are gonna take the Jeep down now. I started taking it apart but if its not gonna be here till the end of the week we are gonna take it. I will email you via the GC site and let you know tomorrow and exchange numbers etc to finalize. We will be leaving the meeting a little early. We are going down from thursday-sun. We plan on hitting all the tybee caches on friday before dinner.

Looks right as far as I can see. Are we all planning on launching at the same time at 11? hence the Barge lol

quote: 1. We'll launch fairly close together (time wise), but only a couple of canoes can go in after a cache at a time, so we'll need to spread out at we get near the caches. At this point, there are 24 people on the list! (Chaos won't be there, gators like dogs... for lunch.) 2. Adding son & daughter of Lil Moose & Big Bear for Canoe #7. They waited until now to ask for it in order to give all the out-of-towners a chance to sign up first. 3. The weather forecast isn't looking great, but we'll just cross our fingers & make the make the final decision when we get there. 4. Everyone remember to bring a disposable, waterproof camera. |

Great pix! Are you sure this is in Ga?, and not in South La.? It sure looks like where I rambled as a teenager! ... wish I could have made it.
Edited: That first picture looks like the driveway of the first house I bought. |

Mick, I just saw this post.
If it's not too late for you, send me a message through the groundspeak site about this and I'll hook you up with a friend who rents canoes along the Ogeechee. |

That's a big 10-4!! And probably BBadMonkey as well. Let me know, I have a trailer now and a canoe and added a kayak as well. Let's get together on this; I can probably grab another canoe as to go with it!

Count me in if y'all are doing the "barging missions"

I don't think I'd want to do this in July or August, but if there's another cooler weather outing like the one last November I'd like to participate. It's about time I put my old wood and fabric kayak in the water again.

If you go in November, extra dry clothes in a dry bag are as important as as your GPSr. Canoes are fairly easy to tip and you'll have some chances with all the in and out trips along the way.

We are planing another "Mission" Oct 22. So far, I think it may be Big Moose and Lil Bear, BBadMonkey, Waterbaron & Cycling Mermaid, maybe Johann, and Tool Team, but the more the merrier. I know one of the containers must be missing after the flooding so I will bring along a couple of extras to replenish and also so everyone will get credit for the 4 plus "Do you mind if I Barge in" if they have not already grabbed it. Should be fun. Bring extra dry clothes just to be safe! Right Zack?

We will meet at the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal Park at 12:00 on Oct. 22, 2005:
This is a kind of impromptu get together that started out as Tool Team & Lil Moose & Big Bear getting together to do a little maint. on the series. More & more expressed a desire to go, so I posted it to the GGA & SCGA site. This series is probably a 6 on the 1-5 difficulty scale because not only do you need equipment (canoe) but you will need a vehicle at the end with a trailer to load up canoes to take you back to where you started. I am brining an extra kayak and can bring an extra canoe as well. There is a$2 charge at the park and we usually pack a lunch to eat at the King's Ferry Park at the end. There is also a Luv's seafood restuarant across from the park which is very good. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tool Team, |

Wish I could make this one again it was so much fun last year even if I did already find the caches.
