The group camping required a reservation, and if we cancel, the fee still has to be paid, so might as well take advantage of it.

we will be there early afternoon. it takes us awhile to get the tent condo up and since we haven't had it up since last october who knows if i can remember how it all goes together.

Allen did you pay for the spot and we reimburse you or do we stop and pay as we go in? How much do we pay? Are the reservations in your name?

Johnnie made the reservation I assume that he had to pay by Credit Card, (I'll check). So we'll need to pass the hat to reimburse him. His log says we have the group camping from Friday 3PM to Sunday 2PM.

CryingI would love to be there but again life is getting in the way. One of my kids hasn't been well lately and I will be staying close to home. I was also planning to go to AT STateline cache this week but that will also have to be put on hold. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and tell johnnie we will make it with him and everyone in the fall. Still working on showing movies in the mountains. signal gets popcorn

I had planned on actually made it a goal to do a camp out this year, but It can't be in April. Every weekend is booked up for me.

I would like to do something in may or the first wekend in June. I don't want it to get too hot. And I will probably have it over in Alabama. A friend just bought a campsite with rv parking, cabins and tent camping. And since she knows all about the geocaching from many a conversation with me, she will have no problem letting us set up some there.

But right now, I'm looking just to get through April and the First weekend in May (DERBY!!!). So we'll see how it shapes up.

The name of the spot is Talladega Creekside Resort

She said she could work out a special rate, but that is still in the planning stages.

I'll see how it shapes up and let ya'll know.

That is a very nice campground it even has cabins...for us non-tent types.

When the details are worked out we may just be able to swing a weekend away.

You could not get in there anyway at the end of April. The 500 race probably has that very much booked out. That is very close to my parents house. They live on the other side of the river outside of Pell City.

I-20 has some serious road work going on through August, FYI. For example, right now as you go westbound, at around mile marker 15 or so, the road splits in half. The right lane continues on the interstate and you can exit off on the three exits between that point and the state line. The left lane is directed across the median and runs to the state line next to the two east bound lanes as an express only lane. I have not hit any major traffic there in a long time, but we did end up in a three hour traffic jam one night. I go over quite a bit, so I can keep you up to date.

I knew about the race. It is their busy time.

As for the Traffic...that's no different than any other day in atlanta...Jam Jam Jam.

Thanks for the update though. Keep us aprised.

Yes it's got water.

And it's extremely dog friendly.

I second mtn-man on his appraisal of the traffic near Talledega. My mom lives in Pell City (small world!) and I avoid the area like the plague on race weekends. Even all my short cuts and get-arounds are bollexed up. Not to mention that I20 between Anniston and Lincoln is like a washboard on steroids - bumpity bumpity to the point of distraction. And, like mm said, the road construction is major. I've seen 5 mile backups in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. I wouldn't want to speculate about race weekend.

Having said all that, it sounds like a nice place.

You should try that stretch of I-20 in a Miata ... I have done it many times ... its torture. But at least Alabama knows how to do major road work without closing lanes, unlike Georgia. And it hurts me to say that too.
