I am planning to drive up to Beasely Knob on Sunday, August 5. This will not be an event cache, but anyone who would like to participate in some ORV driving would be welcome to come along. This may also be an ad-hoc ride for members of Southern Jeeps.

Beasely is somewhat tougher terrain than the places we've done NGORGE previously. Note that if it is raining the ride will be called off (that happened this past weekend with the planned SJ ride). A stock Jeep or equivalent will be able to handle the terrain, although some places you might need to be towed over a ledge. What is mandatory is 4wd and good tires, plus seatbelts for everyone in the vehicle, with a frame-mounted tow point front and rear. For the rear a trailer hitch is sufficient. CB radio is useful.

There is a $5/pp daily use fee at Beasely.

Meeting point will be the Home Depot parking lot in Blairsville at 9:30am.

I plan to place a new cache at the top of the mountain during the ride. After the ride there are a number of caches available in the Blairsville area if you need your daily fix.

Post up if interested.

Went out with Trez, with Mertat riding shotgun in Trez' new Wrangler. An interesting day. I'll let them comment if they choose.

We had a great time. Mertat has some pictures that will say much more than my words, but not sure if she will ride with me again.

Well, I'll second both of those comments - "We had a great time" and "an interesting day." Laughing

I'll try to post some pictures soon.

And, yes, Trez, I'll ride with you again but it might be a looong time before I do. Big Grin

Surprisingly my new cache was found by some new geocachers who hiked up. Read all about it here
