Is there going to be a Chili Cook Off in Feb next year? If so, I going to try for top honors.
I think my mountain chili will beat the swamp chili by a land slide.

As popular as that event has been, Johnnie, I would expect that it will be held again though it has not been discussed as of yet. If the 100 degree and near 100 degree days continue around here, it may be a few months before I want to think about chili. The question remains: Is mountain chili as hot as swamp chili?

Ya done it now, ya Old Geezer! I told my cachin' buddy, T3 that I have retired from the Chili Cookoff after my sweep this past year. (Maybe I realized that I should quit while ahead after getting lucky against the formidable competition this year).

I guess I'll withdraw my retirement for one more year to show ya a thing or two.
In any case, I would like to propose that the Annual Chili Cookoff be renamed to:
'Rebel's Annual GGA Chili Cookoff', in honor of the driving force behind its' beginnings - Ed Handler - aka Rebel.

RIP, my friend. Every time I have a bowl of chili, I have a passing thought of him.

I think we should try to continue the tradition. Since last year was my first event and I only observed and tasted, I think I should warn all those intending to enter the competition that a new marshall is in town. Johnnie's Mountain Chili and Phat's Swamp Chili are good but folks look out for the Foothill Chili from Bartow County. The last family members that ate some, loved it so much that they are still taking Tums by the fistful daily after 4 months..none have reported permanent damage but they remember it daily and beg for more. Soooo let's do it and we shall see what happens. (This could be the solution to the energy crisis if managed properly !!!)

Seriously I think that renaming the event in honor of a good cacher and good guy is a great idea. I am willing to help however I can to keep this thing going.

to honor Rebel with the chili cookoff.

I will be hanging my main ingredients in the smoke house as soon as the weather turns cool.
They should be ripe by Feb. 09 in time for the cook off.

My ingredients have been in the bed of my truck for a couple of weeks now --- marinating.

They had a woman in South Georgia a year or so ago that did that with her husband in a 55 gal. drum in the back of the truck..... .....managed to marinate him for several months before someone found him..... ....hope you didn't borrow your recipe from her.... .....

it should be named after Rebel. It was his idea. He made it happen. It was his baby.

It would be wrong not to.
