Thanks, Erik, for the explanation. I'm glad Rick stepped up and submitted his and had it approved, now I can try to be FTF on it Wink

What really matters is that Georgia has a DeLorme Challenge of it's own and we can get on out there and find the caches and have fun seeing some parts of our state that maybe we have never seen before.

I'm looking forward to hearing everybodies stories as they hunt this one!

See ya on the roads and trails!

I guess I have some logs to edit.

Woohoo...on to the challenge!

Thanks T1 and AB4N! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Steve, I want to personally apologize to you for not checking here first. I can see that you have been working on this for a while and invested much time into the concept.

I do thank you for the opportunity to host the Challenge, and commit to giving my best to facilitate making it a fantastic adventure to all who take up the Challenge.

I am developing a web page that will function as a tool to assist participants by providing GSAK polygon filters, map links, progress lists, maps for each contestant, and more. The link to this web page will be added to the cache listing when it is ready, and I will post a note here as well.

The final cache will hopefully be a true reward for each person who finishes the challenge. I won't spoil it by providing any details, but I think that you will enjoy it.

Go! Go! Go!

I ran this one past Hannah and her reaction was -

Smile Big Grin clap clap ROAD TRIPS!!! clap clap Big Grin Smile

I guess that means we'll expand our activities to outside the metro area and give it a try.

Yep, that's the one. I have a copy of it that I was going to upload to the cache listing, but wanted to get permission from DeLorme first. I have heard that they are OK with it, but just wanted to make sure.

I wondered how far along you were, Tarvol, since I knew you traveled a god bit. I'm only at 36 of 63 completed. I'm curious where ELJLYLE and Athrilla are, too Smile

Rick, I've got the State Map Program that Blue Blazes wrote for help with the various Delorme Challenges and the coords already entered if you would like me to help and let folks know where they stand presently until you get your page up.

Well from my unscientific method of just looking at my find on a map and the gid map I guess we have about 20 grids done. Some of the finds were right on the edge of a page but we did not count those questionable ones. I am looking forward to seeing the webpage or place to see how many pages we really have.

So apparently we have our work cut out for us. Not even half way done. Roll Eyes

Which grids have no caches in them? Does anyone know.

31B, 37, and 53 have no caches in them as of yet. 39A and 62 only have 1 cache each, 69 has 2; 51, 52 & 54 only have 3; 17, 24B, 29, 64 &68 have 5.

On the flip side - 20 has 571 & 26 has 515 Smile

This is from Friday's count of 3823 active caches in Georgia.

That would be great! I wasted the better part of the day today trying to get the software loaded for the new web page, but server side software is too old to make it work cursing I have been planning to get all of my web pages moved to a new server anyway and this is the final kick in the butt I needed to do that.

I have set up a temp page for now, but hope to have the permanant page ready in the next week or so once I get the new server space purchased.

I was looking at page 53, that one cache GCKPCR is soooo close! It is only .021 seconds outside of the page. That is literally about a stones throw away. But the cache appears to be missing anyway, and the owner hasn't been on site since Feb.

For page 37 I emailed Beauregard who lives and has hidden a couple caches just west of the page to see if he would be willing to hide one in that area.

I'll be more then happy to help - I've also got all the map coords for each map section if you need them.

OK folks, if you are curious as to where you stand so far in the Georgia DeLorme Challenge I'll need you to send me your My Finds query. Here's how to request it from GC.com (you will need to be a premium member to request this file).

1) Go to your "My Account" page and look on the right hand side of the page where it says "Build Pocket Queries" under the "Premium Features" heading. Click on that to open it up.

2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page to where it says "My Finds" and click on the box to the right that says "add to queue". This will send you a pocket query of all your finds that you have logged.

3) Email me that query when you receive it (you can just forward it - no need to extract it or anything) to Thorny1@gmail.com.

I'll run it through the program and send you a text file with the results. I can also send the same file to AB4N so he knows where you presently stand if you wish. All this really shows is how many caches you have found in each map grid so you'll which grids you have left to find.

Be patient with me Big Grin It may take me a day or two to email your results back to you - I'll try to be faster then that but sometimes life and babies get in the way signal laughing

If you are not a premium member but use GSAK and want to know how you stand so far in the Challenge you can do this.

1) Open GSAK and click on yellow highlighted number at the bottom right of your screen (that's your finds). That will set the filter to only your finds showing.

2) On the top left of your screen, go to "File" then "Export" then choose GPX/LOC File (CTRL G does the same thing).

3) In the pop-up window choose GPX file to create. Name the file something like "c:\geocaching\yourcachername.gpx" and click on "generate" at the bottom left of the pop-up screen.

4) Email me that file at Thorny1@gmail.com and I will be able to create the same report for you with that.

If you don't have a premium acct or don't use GSAK I can't help you at this time Smile you'll have to wait for AB4N's pages.

I've also got a screen capture program to send a picture of your current Georgia DeLorme Challenge map to you when I send you your report. It helps to see where you've been and completed and what you have left to complete.

I'm being stubborn and not going to use past cache finds before the challenge started unless its in one of those pages where its the only usable cache. Heck, it's going to take me the rest of my life to do this...LOL. 39B down the rest to go!!

Last night I added the grid information to the web page. Also, if you have DeLorme PC software I added a file that can be imported and overlay the grid onto the map.

I am now setup and ready to help anyone who needs it, and can generate maps of your progress.

If you have already loaded some of the pages you may need to refresh to see the new content. Click Here... to see the web page info.

The permanant web page is still a week or so away.
