Coming soon the challenge to find all 93 existing virtual caches in Georgia. The final will be down near Hamilton GA.
If you want to see how many you have done:
Go to GC.com sign in to your account. and click "hide and Seek a Cache"
Go to the bottom of the page and hit the link for" Advanced Search"
Then set the drop downs to "Virtual Caches" and Country to "United States" and then Georgia then run.
It will display all the virts and have the red check mark by those you have found.
So it should be active in a few days.
Hope you have fun with it because at most virts you get the opportunity to learn something about history or places in Georgia.

I've got 73 to find! Not shooting for FTF, just the challenge.

Our list has 41 caches that we haven't found. It does seem that most folks will not be able to complete this challenge until late September or early October when "GA STATE FAIR" (GC9045) becomes available.

On second thought, after reading the log entries for this cache, maybe that's not true. Smile

And that is the sort of thing that led to the ban on virtual caches. Peeved

Funny I thought it specifically said ...
"The only time it will be available is when the fair is in town."

I would think that would make that obvious to the finder that a requirement has not been fulfilled.

Did you actually expect anything less from the finder?

I did find that one legitimately. Was going to the fair last year & checked for nearby caches. Saw this one & the extremely narrow window in which it was available and made sure I snagged it while I could.
These other "finders" - yeah, they may be making it to GZ but that's not the point of the cache. You still need to meet the requirements of the cache in order to log a legitimate find.

IMHO, this falls back on the cache owner. The delete button is readily available, but there are finds that DO NOT meet the eligibility requirements. Owner should delete them - or just open it up to any loggers, regardless.
If it was mine and I couldn't maintain this 'Virtual' - I'd archive it. What is the point of it continuing?

Technically, you didn't find it either. According to your log, you made it to GZ during the right time frame, but there was NOTHING grilling at a nonexistent Scout booth. Looks like the last legit find was back in 2006.

phat.bak, I guess you're technically right but I did email back & forth with the owner and he gave the thumbs-up on counting the find. He had had the cache set to inactive when I first contacted him. Since the fair was going on and I knew I was headed out there I asked that he activate it. Looks like maybe he ought to deactivate it till the fair is back, or change the requirements.
And if he had had a problem with my logging a legitimate find I would have understood & accepted it - if there are requirements then you ought to meet them before taking the find!

epop doesn't really pay much attention to his caches anymore. He used to and he had some really good ones, but his recent participation in geocaching is even spottier than mine.

Yes the cache should be archived.

I just want to say that, aside from the cache status and whether or not it needs to be archived, the log remaining or not is between the cache owner and the geocacher that logs the find.
