We are in the process of hiding a cache(log Only)
We were wondering how far in advance do people post them? I have noticed several that were a week or more before they were posted on Geocaching.com site. |

I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you want to post something to this board before posting it on gc.com, you can wait as long as you want.
There is something to keep in mind, however. Not every proposed cache submitted to gc.com gets approved. For example, you may not be aware that there is already an active cache within 0.1 mile or 528 feet of the location you want to use. In such a case, your proposed cache would be denied by gc.com. Another reason proposed caches may be denied include placing one inside a Georgia State Park without express permission from the park manager, within a railroad right of way, or in other areas where caches are not permitted. Since 9-11, any location that might be considered a potential terrorism target (bridges, dams, power stations, etc.) will also be denied. I don't want to throw a wet blanket on your plans, but I wanted to make you aware of some of the things to consider. If your question related to the length of time it takes to get a proposed cache approved on gc.com, it can be as little as a few minutes if the queue is not saturated and your cache is pretty straightforward. If the approver has to discuss some aspect of the proposed cache with you, that could take days depending upon the length of the discussion. Generally, straightforward caches are often approved within 24 hours. Hope this helps. If I have misunderstood your question, please try stating it again. -Brad |

I was just wondering about advanced placement, I have notice that some people put out an advance placement notice that they are hiding one soon and should be placed soon. I guess it seems a little hasty to me. What happens if GC.com doesn't approve it and everything???? The first one we placed didn't have any problems getting approved, but the one we are currently trying to place is a little more tricky, I don't want to let people know about it and then have it not be approved by GC.com. I think I will write to the guy that approved our first one and see if he would be willing to help sort of pre-approve it so that we will be able to fix any problems that may crop up.
