The first Lacy 5 star terrain geocache was approved by one of the friendly neighborhood approvers. You can check it what it requires at The Lacy Snipe Hunt.

I guess you could get by with one burlap sack, you can keep the snipe in it while you sign the log, then sleep in it after you let him go.

As mentioned in another forum, I and my buddy Allan (armkreuz) are going after this one in the next 3-8 weeks (3 weeks would be soonest). I'm sure we won't be first to find, but sounds like great times to the both of us.

One question for the Lacy's though: How's the bugs/skeeters - and ticks, most importantly - situation there currently? After seeing the pics, I suspect "not bad at all," but...

On our trip this weekend we never got a single skeeter bite, and none of us seen a tick.
we did have the repel with us, but did not use it. It was a lot of fun for the three of us. Smile

Like Johnnie said we had no problem with skeeters or ticks and as you can tell from the description we were off trail a lot. I.e during set up, during testing and so on. Of course YMMV.

We did hear a few of the 17 cicadas. But they shutup at night and so were no problem. They will be gone in a week or two anyway.

What was the hiking time from Warwoman Ford to the camp site and from the camp to Hwy 28? What I really want to know is What would Robert's time be if he didn't the geezer impediment.

It is a seven mile hike all the way.
The cache is close to the middle, which makes it a three and a half mile from the cache/camp to hi-way 28. It is fairly level trail following the river valley, but he could take a long time if you try it a night. I recommend a overnight stay, and do the hiking in the day time.

I just added this one to my list for July.
You know, my husband & son don't really like geocaching. They only come along for special occasions, like Mother's Day, or my birthday or if it doesn't seem safe for Chaos & me to go alone.
But I think they might really like this one!! We should be up there the first week in July.

Snipes are sweet little birds. They just eat things like insects, snails, crustaceans, and earthworms. I suspect the reason we didn't see any skeeters or ticks is the snipes ate them.

Wandering around checking the Lacy caches for some hints and clues to find the Snipe, I happened to find this 12/3/2002 "found" log by Daring Davis':

December 3, 2002 by Daring Davis' (243 found)
Well this was a fun cache.I was up in the mountains with a friend,El Diablo, and we were going hunting.I started telling him about geocaching and he wanted to give it a try,I think he is hooked.I have been wanting to give this one a try so off we went.We started on the wrong FS road so we hiked cross country and ended up climbing two mountains. We made it to the area and we were looking when I looked up and saw two people. In all my hunts I have never ran across another geo cacher out in the wild, but here we are out in the middle of the wilderness and we meet up with T-Storm,and Brokenwing all the way out here from Texas. We teamed up to find this cache and after a long walk I found a nice place to sit down, and as it turned out it was the perfect spot to sit.Took a small puzzle,El Diablo took a small rock, left a 2003 dayplaner and a mini biner compass, sorry we didnt have any puzzles.Great cache a lot of fun,and it was great to meet up with fellow geocachers,,a big thanks to T Storm and Brokenwing for the ride back to our car, hope to see you again out there on another hunt someday.Thxs for the hunt,,DARING DAVIS'

With the recent visit from El Diablo, it was extra fun to read the log. In fact, I think I will hunt this other cache soon.... Smile

Oh! The cache is this one

Wow! Yoyo Man was busy this past week. He got first find honors for Snipe Hunt
Must have been a tough hike. He lost a little weight too.
But where did he get those Richard Simmons shorts?

Too funny! That's why he had to 'sneak up' on the Snipe with a paper bag.
Hmmm ... that's not PORK in that pan is it?
