Field Day Geocache

Field day is almost here. June 28th between 09:00 and 19:00 hours I will have a special event cache at Eagles Landing Baptist Church. This cache will have THREE unactivated geocoins, that will go to the first three people to find this cache.

OK here is how this is going to work. I will provide coordinates at the bottom of this post. The coordinates are not the location of the cache, they are the location of the field day event. Once you arrive at the coordinates, you will see a table set up with a radio, a laptop, and a person who will give you the final location for the cache, along with a little info about amateur radio. The cache is at the same site as the field day event. If you have your own equipment capable of receiving APRS, go ahead and use it. I will also try to get the beacon listed on aprs.fi and findu. The call sign for the beacon is KJ4AJW-10.

Unfortunately I'll be at another, GARS Field Day across town. Is this going to be a real Geocache?

According to the rules that I have seen I'm not allow to post this cache on geocaching.com because this cache is for a non-geocaching event.

It is an ammo can with a log book and has FTF geocoin prizes.

If I have misunderstood the geocaching rules, please let me know, because we would have no problem posting it to the site, so members could get credit.

I know the rules and wondered if your's had gotten approved. Kind of silly they'd restrict an opportunity to promote Geocaching. Oh well.
