Ok while the rest of y'all were down on the south side, Robert and I were finishing the cache. As I promised I will give the details to GGA forum for a couple of weeks before posting to geocaching.com. The details are currently on a page on my website. If you find it before it is on geocaching.com you may log it online after it is approved and get your smiley.

That looks like a good cache for me to target as a goal for one of these weekends. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks!

Only if you need a boat to cross the water to get to the island where the flooded tunnel is.

That picture reminds so much of a certain cache in Barrow County ...

take your camera along, this looks like it might
have some views that could make it to the next years calendar. Don't let Allen be the only picture taker.

You guys did a lot of work on this one. What a great concept for a multi.Completed stages 1-5 and decided to save the final for another day. Be sure to allow for some sight seeing time. There is a great deal of history and interesting spots along the first stages.

Just an observation: I can't tell anywhere in the description if there will be wading involved to get to the actual cache. I don't mind getting wet, but I'd rather be prepared for it ahead of time. I'd hate to drive all over creation to get to a cache only to have to turn back and return home to get the waders out or bring along spare clothes to wear for the drive back.

If the cache can be gotten to without getting soaked, it looks like it would be a lot of fun, if getting wet is going to be mandatory, a fair warning would be much appreciated.

I'm basing all of this on your pics and the hydrocache question. Feel free to stone me as a newb and send me packing.

The Lacy's always inform. The surprises are either how beautiful the scenery actually is or not how long the hike is, but how long the hike really feels like!

On caches requiring a long hike in the woods, you should always be prepared to get your feet wet. For example there are caches in the Elachee nature center that may require you to cross a ford in there, depending on where you start.

As for the picture it was taken inside the tunnel/culvert which you don't have to enter unless you want to. As you can see from the picture, it was up to mid thigh in one area in there.

I forgot to mention, one of of the ways I prepare to cross water is my hiking boots are water proof up to about 6 inches. If it gets deeper than that I take them off.

You do have to tread lightly if you do that, though. There definately are fish hooks in the streams in areas of North Georgia. I would doubt there are any in that tunnel though.

Allen, is that a snake in the water behind you in that photo? Fool

We knew we were going into the tunnel. So to protect our feet from anything sharp we took sandals with us and changed into them when we got there. There are several rocks in there that could stub a bare toe. I am actually standing on one of the rocks in the picture.

But I will cross a stream on the trail in my bare feet if it is too deep for my hiking boots.

Looking forward to doing this cache soon. I'm sure it will be as rewarding as all Lacy caches are. And I'll bring my camera.
Thumbs Up

I thought I had double-checked everything, but the coordinates which should be the cache are really the coordinates close to the tunnel. I found it when I downloaded the waypoints in my GPS. I should be able to fix them this weekend.

This is the only way I can think to let you know if you got the incorrect coordinates and how to adjust without giving it away.

It is the decimal minutes of both latitude and longitude that are wrong.

One of wrong coordinates will end with "23" it should end with "10", the other wrong coordinates will end with "49" it should end with "19"

I'm glad you caught that before I went out to hunt it Saturday. I have a hard enuff time finding 'em even with the right coords. (Can you say 'IceBreaker'?) Hehe. Maybe we (what about it Johsai, are you up for it?) will run into others out there. I see that RachaelJulia is hot on it's trail.
Thanx for the heads-up, Allen.

So you might even see me fixing my mistake, and anyway the coords are only about 200 feet off not 57 miles. So you might have even found it, as it is in an obvious geocaching hiding spot. After all the work we are having you to do, we wanted it to be an easy find once you get there.

Count me in Phat.bak, I have plans Saturday evening, but I believe the daytime is clear at the moment.

Let's do it.

Shoot me an e-mail and we'll work out the details.
