Additional waypoints are a great tool for the cache owner and make the job of reviewing a cache much easier on the geocaching.com web site volunteers.

As a cache owner, your multicache and puzzle cache stages and final locations are not visible to other users, of course. If a user has not found your cache, they could put a cache near your stage or final without knowing it. Trust me, it happens more than you think.

If you look at the upper right menu of links on one of your hidden cache pages, you will see "waypoints". Enter them there and make sure that they are "hidden" for multi or puzzle cache stages or final locations. Reviewers can still see them if they are hidden. Once you enter them, you have to click the "waypoints" link to see ones that you have hidden from view.

Name each of them the GCXXXX waypoint number of the cache followed by "Stage 2", etc., as in "GC1234 Stage2". Then name the final location's waypoint "GC1234 FINAL". The Waypoint Lookup Code should be "Stage2", "Stage3", "Final" and so on. The Prefix Code should be something like "S2", "S3", "FC" and so on. Then, make sure you hide the waypoint.

This will help speed up the cache review process for new caches and will protect the locations of your hidden caches from encroachment from other newly hidden caches.

You can also enter parking coordinates and leave them available for view and people will be able to download them from the cache page. If you know of cool things along a trail, you can waypoint them and people will have the coordinates right on their GPS. Pocket queries now provide a second file that have these additional public waypoints in them.
