GEORGIA GEOCACHERS ASSOCIATION STEERING COMMITTEE
The Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA) Steering Committee (SC) comprises six GGA members. The duties and responsibilities of the SC include handling the work of planning the GGA meetings, finding presenters for programs, conducting the administrative activities of the group and coordinating with state and local land managers to represent the best interests of the GGA. Other duties may be identified over time and assigned to the SC. The term of membership and procedure for selection of the SC members are described below. Term of SC Members Each of the six members of the GGA Steering Committee serves for a three-year term. Each term begins on January 1st. To maximize continuity, two memberships expire each year on a rotating basis. Any GGA member may serve on the Steering Committee any number of terms. Selection of SC Members In the fall of each year, the SC will name a Nominating Committee (NC). The NC will comprise three members, with at least one member being a current member of the SC. The SC will solicit the membership for candidates to be new members of the SC, as well as ascertain whether the current members whose terms are expiring want to continue as SC members. A slate of candidates that meet eligibility requirements and are willing to serve will be selected and published to the membership by November 1st of the year. SC members are elected by vote of the membership. Election of new SC members will be held via the GGA Forums between November 15 and November 30. The candidate(s) that receive the most cast votes wins the open position(s). Newly elected SC members become ex officio members immediately to permit training and indoctrination. Filling of Vacancies If an SC member becomes incapacitated or leaves office for any reason before completion of his or her full term, replacement of the member shall be accomplished based on the length of the term remaining. If the remainder of the vacant term is six calendar months or less, the position will be left vacant until the next regular election. The SC may ask a volunteer to serve temporarily until the new SC member is in place. If the remainder of the vacant term is more than six months, a special election shall be held to fill the position. The special election process shall be the same as a regular election, except the SC will determine voting dates. The term of the new SC member selected under this section shall begin immediately and expire on the date the vacating member’s term expired. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Joebids, |
