I have played on Waymarking and I have to say I totally dislike. What are your thoughts?

I also wish geocaching.com would bring Virtuals back.

Virtual caches won't be coming back. I like waymarking, but until you can download waymarks via a pocket query it will probably not gain much in popularity. At least with waymarking you can choose the type of "virtual" targets you want to find. With virtual caches, you never know what you get until you get there.

The basic idea is OK but in application it does not seem to work for me. Before WM I would find a few neat virtual caches as I looked for caches in an area. I often don't think to check for Waymarks when I am geocaching, and if I do, the listing is often overburdened with lame stuff. If I want to find a fast food restaurant I won't use my GPS.

I have been known to use my GPS V to find a restaurant but I use its POI not Waymarking. I have fooled around with Waymarking, but the UI isn't as clear as gc.com. I think mainly because it has so much. Then when get down to categories that might appeal to me there isn't enough close to make it worthwhile to me.

Sorry to say I don't use the Waymarking site any more. I did try to have an open mind about Waymarking but I wish the Virtuals were still a part of Geocaching.

For me unless there is a big change in Waymarking it will not be part of my GPS enjoyment. I guess I will miss out on some good virtual sites unless there is a lamp post or micro/nano cache at the location.

Pocket queries for waymarking is way past due. The hobby could be so much better with pocket queries.

I'm not a fan because *everything* is a waymark. If I wanted to see post office boxes and McDonalds, I don't need a GPS.

IMHO, Virtual caches were cool because they brought you someplace interesting, like a historical site or a natural landmark.

I have a running gag with the people I cache with: I'm going to start a waymark category of "Places TheBisch has peed in the woods". It certainly would have a few listings.

I have been heavily involved in waymarking for the past several months and I really like it. I must admit that there are a lot of lame categories and I have to shamefully admit that I have waymarked several and am involved in promoting some. The draw for me is that it takes me to places that caches are not placed and some places would not be appropriate for a cache (cemetery, cache prohibited areas, etc.) I have learned a trememdous amount of history from the places I have waymarked especially the Georgia Historical Markers category. I have visited about 160 markers all over North GA and have learned to appreciate the history of this great state we live in. As I mentioned I think it is getting a little out of hand but I encourage everyone to take another look at it especially if you are interested in history since some of the categories really lend to that.
