If anyone has an old legend still in good shape looking to get rid of.. please let me know. I desperately need to upgrade from my original yellow etrex that is due for retirement. I'm fond of the etrex series and would like to find a non color display legend.

I'm with you ... I am fond of the eTrex series as well. I started out with 'Old Yeller' and used it for years, until I upgraded to the eTrex Vista (I liked the electronic compass on that model). Wore it out and the screen finally died on it. I was gifted a GPS76s but it bit the dust rather quickly. It was not as accurate under tree cover as the Vista. I dismantled the Vista and got the display to work again, although I think it is on borrowed time. It is the best unit I have used and still use it. I bring 'Old Yeller' as backup, tho - just in case.

Yes sir, My "Old Yeller" is still a good one, beat most of the more expensive ones in acuracy. If it wasn't for the screen going out and it cutting off everytime it gets bumped i'd still use it as a primary. I'm currently looking on ebay for a legend, I've seen one in action before so i'm impressed with it's capabilities. The little yellow box will be tagging along with me as well... just in case. Smile

Don't rule out a Vista in your search on eBay.
If the prices are similar, the difference between the 2 machines is that the Vista has an altimeter (I don't use), electronic compass (operates while standing still), and has 24 mb memory instead of the Legend 8 mb.
Keep your options open.

loved my vista, until it committed suicide by jumping about 20 feet to the ground. Still have a blue legend that seems to be loaned out more that it is home. currently use the Map60csx, pretty pricey, but man is it accurate.

Those GPS's do tend to get alittle jumpy. I fashioned a clip to mine so I can keep up with it better, one of my team mates is always leaving his on top of his where he sits it. He's looking to fashion something like the clip himself. I did see a really cool case on ebay for the etrex series that has the big clip on it plus a reinforced velcro strap for attaching it to handlebars. Not a bad deal for 15 bucks.. I plan on getting one to hopefully prolong the life of my new toy.. lol

GC.comsells a lanyard that has a quick release and has i small loop for attaching to GPS units. I don't use mine much because I got a belt clip for my map60. Vista's had a pretty cool handlebar mount available from garmin, and "RAM" makes mounts to mount anything to anything. Use them on my Harley, bicycle, and to mount my sweeties Colorado to the windshield of the car.

Good luck and Google away!!

I have been a longtime fan and user of Ebay, but,, Craigslist rocks, because you can get it in your hands and push the buttons. with that said, look what turned up in the last 6 days.
