You know, if you had a Garmin instead of a Maggie you could do automatic waypoint averaging and wouldn't have to cluster 3 or 4 GPSrs around your cache to get an accurate reading.
I may be interested. . First, let me tell you what I'm lookin' for. I do a lot of endurance riding on motorcycle (technically called Saddle Sore[s]). These are sanctioned and verified rides of at least 1,000 miles with 24 hours. . What I need a GPS for is to not only map out the route, but also to gather vital statistics regarding the ride, i.e., total trip time, total time moving, total time "at rest", average time for stops as well as time for each stop, average speed, top speed, total mileage of trip, etc. You get the gist of what I'm looking for. I need all of this type of info. to be readily accessible. . Will the Magellan Gold provide me with this type of info? Will I need additional software? . Please send your reply to nelson_roth at bellsouth.net and copy in: nelson.roth at spcorp.com . Thanks in advance

The Meridian series generally will not do auto-routing, but it appears the latest software for the MeriGold will do it.
Timing is done usually for time left to destination (as crow flies) and does not keep track for time stopped/moving/average/etc.
There is a tripodometer where you can get total mileage of trip.
I wonder if ANY GPSR would survive that kind of abuse. Mounted to a dirt bike and being jarred constantly for hours. I would be curious if the screen would sooner or later separate from the circuit board.
