. . . without a cache. |
I've upgraded to V5.0, so my copy of 4.0 is up for sale. It's the DVD version, which means that you must have a DVD drive on your computer to use the data disk. The DVD contains information of the entire USA; no swapping disks.
Price: $20.00 +plus shipping (about $3.50) Shoot me an email if you're interested. rebel at moonbright dot com --------------------- Live Well, Harm None |

No takers, eh? If no one here expresses an interest, I'll put it on eBay on Saturday.

Going electronic has been a bit of a challenge here, so I'm rather discouraged about sophisticated stuff.
NOt to be too much of an idiot, but...how is the computer version of Delorme better than the book? Can you zoom in? Is it just to scope stuff out before you leave? I don't have a laptop so....please explain to me how you use it and for what. I might be interested if I understood how it could be helpful to me. Remember, *I* am the one that asked for the program on how to get "un-lost." *********** Anna Just because you know the latitude and longitude, doesn't mean you know where you are! |

Birdies,
I use Topo to plot the caches I would like to do so I may see where they are exactly, how to get to them and what kind of terrain is required to traverse (shows it in 3d!). And you can make routes and print directions. If you have a PDA you can put the maps on there. I dont have the laptop either but i Always plot the caches on some type of program (Streets & Trips or Topo) before leaving so i have a general idea. It is very useful. I can't add much to what AR said. I've found it very useful when planning my "attack."
The routing feature is very accurate and helpful when trying to find the best way to a cache. You can create a route from your home (or wherever) to a cache's coordinates. Lots of programs will take you from city to city and street to street. Topo will take you to a set of coordinates. It may sound like cheating, but when I'm in unfamiliar territory, I need all the help I can get. That, plus the topo features, especially the 3D, give you a good idea of the lay of the land. Did you know that Middlesboro, KY, is located in a meteor crater? Regular maps don't show it but when you crank up topo in 3D and tweak the settings, shazam. Ok, I'll buy it from you. I need all the help I can get. Geocaching is a rediculous hobby for someone as "directionally challenged" as myself, so sounds like the kind of help I could really use!
E-mail me, K? *********** Anna Just because you know the latitude and longitude, doesn't mean you know where you are! |
