OK. I have joined the darkside. My Maggie died on me while I was in FL a few weeks ago. The worst part is that I was on my way to a cache and was not able to get anywhere close to it. I spoke with with Magellen CS and did not coming away with a warm fuzzy feeling I decided to jump ship. I bought a 60CSx as a replacement.

I was courious if anyone had a CHEAP copy of City Navigator that I might be able to get a copy of. I'm heading back to FL and would like to be able to use the auto-routing better.

I can't help you with City Navigator, but I can tell you that you will not be unhappy with the CSx.

Hate to break this news but Garmin maps are locked and can only be unlock for use with ONE GPSr. The only exceptions are Metro Guide and Topo but they do not support auto-routing.

So in order to get auto routing you have to buy a new City Navigator map program for each and every Garmin GPSr you own.

It's a matter of degrees

You actually can put 2 GPSr on one program. As long as they are registered.

You use to could unlock maps for 2 GPSr's but the company that actually makes the maps, forced Garmin to change and only allow one unlock to one GPSr per locking map product.

This was based on garmins change in june 1, 2007.

Renegade Knight post had a email from Garmin which says
quote:
Thank you for contacting Garmin Cartography. Version 8 is the last version of City Navigator that will allow you to unlock the maps to two Garmin units. When City Navigator North America 2008 comes out this summer you will be limited to unlocking to one Garmin GPS.
So I took it to mean that old versions sold with the promise of two unlocks would continue to have two unlocks, but new ones only have one unlock. Then there is the Garmin unlock policy which says
quote:
If you would like to obtain additional regions or utilize more than one Garmin GPS unit you own, you will need to purchase another code for each unit.
