This is a story about a failure. I went to hide a cache in a great place, but failed. More about why later. Now more about the place. I went to the top of Burnt Mountain in Pickens County. There used to be a large lodge on this mountain The summit area has stone foundations and lower walls from when it was a lodge with outbuildings, and is a walk of a little less than a half mile each way
I was telling my father about what I found, and he said he had been there while it was in operation during the thirties. He said it was Connahaynee Lodge. He went on the say that his oldest bother drove a laundry truck back then, and he carry laundry from the lodge to Atlanta and back to the lodge. My father grew up around Canton, he said they could see the lodge on the mountain from one of their cotton fields.

I sat on one of the walls along time just enjoying the view. It has grown up with trees so the view would be limited in the summer.

Now for the reason I failed to leave my new cache here

It is not pubic Land Crying

I found it looking for a Benchmark.

The Benchmark is EE1574 chimney

I had to tell you about it, it would have been a cool place for a cache.
I am looking for another place now

I hear ya.

I was all set to place a cache in an infrequently visited part of Henry County. From the time I scoped it out to the time I got ready to place, the area went from public to gov't controlled. So, no cache for the foreseeable future. If I had been able, it would have been near the structure in the picture at the link.

Trestle Road

See ya on the hunt!
