So I leave last Sunday (1/10) for a business trip to Vegas - which is why I didn't make the GGA meeting what with the laundry/prep/etc I had to do saturday.
I took my GPSr and palm pilot with me in the hopes of hitting some of the nearby virtuals.. Suffice to say, work-related stuff took 11-13 hours a day and my only time outside of the Venetian and MGM Grand (where my meetings were) were spent at the Imperial Palace gambling for a few hours.
Total time in Veags: 7 Days. Total caches found: Zip, zero, nada.
What a waste of a trip!

Actually, I did take the GPS and palm out with me one night just in case. I think the dieties were against me.. Over the course of a couple hours mostly spent on the strip, I could only achieve a good enough satellite lock for 2D accuracy to 115 feet.
I think the dieties wanted me to gamble instead.

I've hunted quite a few caches in Reno and other parts of Nevada, but nothing in Vegas. There is this hard to get to Virtual Cache Northeast of Vegas which has caught my attention though.

I'm headed to LV the first weekend in May for a conference, and will have some time for getting a couple of caches hopefully.
I posted on the Nevada geocachers website forum asking for suggestions, and I got some good ones to go for. I'll have a rental car and thus can get away from the strip. Hopefully GPSr will work better in the desert.
The regular caches appear to be quite different than those hidden in the woods around here. "Under Rocks" seems to be the theme, as opposed to "Under Logs". It should be interesting.

I'm in the Phoenix, Arizona area this week. I found two caches this afternoon and they were indeed both under rocks. GPS reception certainly was excellent - with no trees to block the signal.
Hope I can hunt another cache or two before heading back home Friday.
