Here is a cool story.
In December, 2003, Slayerette released a Travel Bug named 'phat.bak' in my honor. His specific goal was to get to Anchorage for the Iditarod to "freeze his bacon off". She knew I had been to the Idit a couple of times and how much I enjoyed it.
It looks like phat.bak will not only make it to the Idit in Anchorage this year, but will probably be at the finish in Nome!

phat.bak is now in the hands of a cacher named 'recray' in Eagle River, Alaska. He is a volunteer for the Idit and has promised to get him to the Knurled Arches (the finish line). He will be working in Rainey Pass, Safety and hopefully, Nome.

I attached a free Polaris Hotel drink token to him when he passed thru my hands back at this launch. I hope recray uses it!
phat.bak

AWESOME!!!!! Thanx Slay!

Love the pic of the current holder with the pig! Great to see a TB reach his goals. And it's been like 40 below up there... whew, too cold for most living things.

I've been one of the watches of this TB for a long, long time. It's always great when a TB makes it's goal!

Yummm. Frozen bacon!

You are so very welcome. I just wish the other phat.bak TB's were so successful. Oh well. I could always be surprised. They do have some mighty big hiking boots to fill. bow

Success! Check out the pix that recray took.

phat.bak made it to the finish line in Nome and even had his picture taken with a musher (Katrina Pawlaczyk) on the way thru Rainy Pass. What a surprise. I was actually following her progress at the rear of the field, hoping she would not get the Red Lantern Award. She didn't.
Awesome.

That is way AWESOME. Will it come back to you or continue traveling? I'd want it to come back so that it could be bronzed!

Well, I got some bad news today. Seems that the cache that phat.bak the travel bug was in has gone missing. I got an email from the cache owner letting me know that he (phat.bak TB) is indeed a victim of cache thieves.

Bummer.

Phat.bak is missing. I am really sorry to have to say. My Angels in the Outfield
was muggled while it was in there as well as another bug. Some thief took the
whole cache. I hate it when that happens. My Angels TB is in the hands of a guy
who is not putting it out either. Sorry once again. SantaBro.
