We had a half-day off work today, decided to look. Both really fun finds, great walkaround. (Mtn-Man, you sure that the old Mill is to the NE? Granted, I was all over the joint - read: hill - looking for #2, but I could almost swear but not quite that it was to either dead north or the northwest. I'm probably wrong, but..)

Also, is the "Eric" who set up Safe Crack eric88L-R or could it be Epop? Logbook cover has me confused. Safe Crack has an issue. It's a minor one, the cache is all safe and sound, but it's something I think might need to be corrected.

I'd like to correspond with whomever set it up. Sent an email on the via the geocaching.com user profile page to Apostle22.

Great fun, looking forward to tomorrow's supposededly OUTSTANDING weather. Man, I don't know how yall do this during the summer. I think this is the best time of year to do it!

Was going to try Goss' Insanity on the way back, but decided not due to traffic concerns (started around 2, left around 4:30). Maybe next time.

Epop did it. That's one you can't blame on me!

PS - how is the area around those two caches? Any environmental deterioration caused by geocachers that we should be aware of?

Thanks

(Just read Armkruez's entry on geocache - actually, I did 1 & 2, he did 3).

Area around Safe Crack final is fine. No enviro issues, no worries. Same goes for points around SOAP, SC Clue #1. Armkruez will have to attest to SC Clue #3.

Now on to SC Clue #2. Being that it's winter, and we've had some rains, etc... No trash that I saw in my immediate area as I went to-and-fro and @#$@# elsewhere (grr!)

That said.. I'll have to wait til spring to reserve judgement on any potential damage done "on the way" to #2. Looks like it gets a fair amount of traffic (from cachers, hikers, and visitors alike), so it's a bit hard to tell. There could be some possible deterioration from getting to it from both north and south (trying not to give anything awayhere). Given that there are faint paths in the area, kinda hard to say, but it's sort of obvious to see where people have "been", if you know what I mean.

In other words: Yeah, you can tell "people" have been around where SC #2 is, but can't tell if it's cachers or visitors or the like - what with the Mill being there, probably lots of folx go to see it. Probably have to wait til Spring to see. Again, SOAP, SC#1, SC#2, SC#Final are dandy enviro-wise.

Thanks for the update, and I am glad you had fun at SOAP. Looks like you two guys are getting in the groove pretty much. I enjoyed Safe Crack myself too. That was a nice walk for the puppymonster and me.

You're welcome for the update, and yeah, I really enjoyed it. You fooled me a few times on the placement. Getting to where I'm looking for YOUR caches first. I wouldn't say we're getting in the groove yet - call it learning by error and/or trial by fire! We're both slow and quick learners at times.

And if the puppymonster enjoyed all aspects of Safe Crack, I'd like to meet the dealer who's supplying him. smile Just kidding, I'm just a bit out of shape.

Couple of other comments that I was thinking about tonight, got home a bit ago, but it was nagging (don't ask):

- SOAP is 100% A-OK.

- Now that I think about it, there *could* be some enviro-dangers to SC #2 ("Point B"). I noticed a lot of barren areas going south, as it looked like people were.. how sould I say.. grabbing at straws? Sort of hard to describe without giving anything away. But my earlier comments of faint trails still stands, with other evidence of persons plural passing. Please keep in mind that this is in late December, with a lack of vegetation, etc. Even so, some "erosion" around the area that could be seen in spring *might* be attributed to cachers, but I'm still reserving judgement.

- There is now a large shoe-sucking footprint, sized 10.5, in the vicinity of SC Final. This would be mine, and my fault. I neglected to account for hopping across a small-still-active runoff stream from our recent rains. Should be gone soon.

That's it for now, and perhaps I'll bump into some of you tomorrow in the Palisades, for that is where I shall be.

You definately want to make sure you are out of the park by closing. My buddy and I once got a ticket for being 20 mins late to the car.
