OK, I know that ~erik~ can be devious sometimes, but this new one of his, "A Painful Introspection", just has me scratching my head.
I hope that after I get a little sleep the description may start making a little more sense to me, but right now I'm going to have to just say I'm a failure at cracking this one.
I imagine it'll take a few hints being given out before I'll locate it, while intrepid cachers such as YoYo, JBzHow, Trez, etc. (you all know who you are) will be snagging this cache by 6:00 a.m. this morning. Big Grin (Please don't flame me if I didn't mention you - there's just too many of you to make an exhaustive list)
I must admit, Erik, that this one definitely got my attention. What I can do with it I don't know, but I've begun mulling it over. I think you've accomplished your goal of a real mind-bender this time.
Thanks in advance for helping us all think outside the box yet again.
Regards,
- Mark (S-4-C)

Sorry guys. It was late at night. I guess I had choo-choo town's "See Rock City" on my mind. I meant "Rock Town". Tin Sparrow pointed out that typo to me. I went back and proof read the page and corrected some others too. I had Johnnie's name spelled wrong for one thing.

Please use the new and improved corrected version.

With apologies,
erik

I had spotted several of the misspellings and was thinking that they may have been a clue toward the solution. Had 'em all circled on a printout in order to see if the missing or wrong letters spelled anything that might give something away. Crying I was all over what I thought was "Rock Lake" rather than "Rock Town" since the coords were placed in the middle of the lake.
Guess I should think about sharing these ideas next time instead of keeping them to myself. It would have saved some effort. Blush
Oh, well, back to the drawing board.

First paragraph, third sentence - "to" should be "too"
Second paragraph - responsibilty
Third paragraph - Counterfeit

You've been made aware of the others already. Just wish I had been on the right track earlier, but at least it was easy to pull these from my list. Smile

I'm sure that if/when I ever solve this one I'll be smacking my forehead painfully and saying, "Why didn't I see that earlier?!?"

Thanks again for the puzzler.

Two cents worth: You have "Beale's Cypher" in quotes like the other caches. However, the cache name is "Beale's Box" and I'm guessing it doesn't matter.

but I thought he was referring to the solving of the code the cache was based upon rather than the cache itself.

I certainly didn't mind the way it was mentioned - heck, I'm kinda flattered that my one and only cache sort of made it in his list. Smile

Whoops, sorry. Yes, you're right on both counts. I've fixed it and the other typos.

Please use the latest version of the cache page.

Sorry, but English is not my native tonque. Wink

If no one finds the cache today I'll add a further clue to the cache page.

~erik~

edited to correct spelling. Surprise!

OK I'm 98.5 per cent sure that I know where it is.
So please no more hints Erik.
I will try to get there some time next week.
So there is still time for a FTF to go ahead of me. Smile
