thanks for the replies, gentlemen. what's a start up and do we need to bring implements? will I get MORE poision ivy? (it's ok - i got it from the back of my YARD)
The SC member coordinating the CITO is Trez. I just emailed him the question and I will call him in the morning (late now). I suspect we will wait another few hours and post a GO rain or shine. Folks can make their own decisions whether to get wet or not. Might be fun, but there is NO shelter from rain. Tough to reschedule the CITO.
Now if we REALLY wanted to CITO, let's head for Mobile....

Ivan is thankfully missing us (although i have always wodnered what going through a hurricane is like). Looks like Ivan could make a flood for you guys on Saturday. Heres hoping it rains somewhere else that day! Wished i could come help out but im not up for driving 4hrs Saturday morning.
And we will all have to wait and see what fun Jeane holds!
Happy Hunting! -Amazingracer
It's about who controls the information Marty!

Well if Ivan is as bad or worse than Francis was by Saturday here, then you can count a lot of people out.
Not risking my life to pick up some trash. Francis knocked out my power for 5 hours and there were trees down all over. This one's eye at the moment looks like it will pass right over West GA on Fri/Sat and have more powerful winds. Guess I'll be playing this one by ear.

Currently weather.com is forecasting the skies to be clear on Saturday. It'd be nice if this foul weather would go ahead and pass through quickly. I'm planning on being there rain or shine. I'm just planning on having wet feet (or more) by the end of the CITO event.

Well, crud. I'm beginning to think I'm not meant to be at the meeting. After deciding that I wouldn't let the weather stop me from getting there, my wife's car broke down. We had to leave it in a parking lot overnight while the weather blew through, then I started working on it this morning. The good news is that the part itself (the alternator) is fairly inexpensive. The bad news is that I can either pay $500+ for the mechanic to do the job or do it myself tomorrow and save the money, but miss the meeting. Remember when you could actually get to most of the parts on an engine without tearing it completely down? Those days are long gone... If I don't see everyone tomorrow, please believe that I would rather be there than under the hood of the car. At least the car is still in one piece, not crushed under a tree or covered in water on a flooded road. Still, I am getting seriously bummed. Crossing my fingers for tomorrow. S-4-C

Mark,
If I can help in anyway, let me know. I'm not a professional mechanic but I played one on TV.....;-) Or the newer one is I'm not a professional mechanic, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn last night ;-)
Maybe between the two of us, we could get it fixed in the morning and still make it to the meeting if not the CITO.
Alternators used to be a couple of bolts, unhook the harness, unhook belt and then reverse the process. Now you got serpentine belts and other crud all over and around.
Let me know, Kenneth

Looks like we're ging to use the mechanic. We may not have the car back until after the event, though. Since we have company coming in it may not be a big issue, but I'm not sure yet. My wife may need transportation during the day, so my car is IT.
I may be begging a ride from someone later today, depending on how this saga progresses.
Thanks for the offer of help,
- Mark (S-4-C)
