I was going to go there this morning to hunt for a cheap digital camera for a gift, I'll check out the batteries too. Too bad I bought a pack of 24 for that price at Home Depot earlier in the week!

Make sure the batteries are alkaline, not "heavy duty" as the the alkaline batteries last much longer.

The Circuit City at the Mall of Ga. didn't seem to know what I was talking about. They took me to a stand near the checkouts that had Eveready and Duracell batteries and said that was all they had. I'll try again.

I went to the store near me in Kennesaw. The rack of battries with all sizes did not have them. I notice they had small racks near the things that use lot of battery, but no 48 pack. Then after I gave up I was looking at the dvds and there they were at the end of the isle. hid like a cache.
the cache hunter in me found them.

I was just looking at sears.com and noticed they have the same batteries. I would give the web page but they have set up the site so that it can't be bookmarked. To see it start at http://sears.com then enter "05766703000" in the box on upper left labeled "Search by Keyword or Item #" This will show the batteries at $9.99 until 12/23/02. As far as I can tell they are in the stores as well.

12/17/02 1:40 PM, I just got back from sears and got the batteries, 40 for $10 is a good deal, not as good as 48 for $10 but still a good deal.
