Jeeptoysrus notified me of a store (Brock's) near Decatur that is selling some unused 2004 ammoboxes that had some minor defect (like paint color or something, I forget) that made them unacceptable to the military, but perfectly fine for geocaching. I am going to head down there some time soon, and will be happy to pick up some for people in this area (Marietta/Cobb) who want them. $10 for a 50 cal, and $6 for a 30 cal. There are 30 and 50 cal boxes available, but the 30s are in low stock, so if you want one of those, let me know soon.

quote: Where is Discount Army Navy? I'll check there. I was at Hodges last night and all the ammo boxes there (they only had .50 cal) were totally rusted and gross. The ones at Brock's are new and unused.

The new 2004 ammo cans at brocks are 3.99-4.99 for 30 cal and 7.99 for 50 plus they have larger sizes for 14. These are brand new with new gaskets.

Didn't notice any decon containers, but they have all sorts of stuff. Might be worth a trip to see.

I get six .30 caliber ammo boxes for $20 from www.cheaperthandirt.com The last batch had the cloth strap handles. I get a lot of my cache items from them too.

I looked into this, but with $8 S&H, it really comes to $4.67/ea. Still not bad. But I opted to shop locally. Not only do you help out a local merchant, but you get to selectively pick through the merchandise. I get my .30s for $5.25 (after taxes) at Surplus City in Duluth: N 34 00.295' w 84 08.264' They have other sizes too, of course. But so far, I've stuck with .30s.
