If you live in the Gwinnett area or proximities you'll be happy to know there's a new REI store opening soon in the Mall of Georgia area. It's off Mall of GA Blvd back behind Chucky Cheese and
Guven's Jewelry. Not sure of the opening date, but we went by last week and they were stocking up and training new employees. Watch the papers for Grand Opening sales. Also could be a location for future winter GGA meetings. Thumbs Up

I am so excited! I love REI, but the only time I go is when the meetings are there. Now I have no excuse. WooHoo!

reioutlet.com is good, in fact it is where I got my sleeping bag, but reioutlet didn't have a bear bag. Plus I had a coupon code for rei.com

And the best part about both of them you don't have to leave your house to get stuff. Just use that time to geocache instead of shoping in the store.

It's what you put your stuff in & hang from a tree so the bears won't get it while you sleep Smile

I can honestly say that bears will not fit in the bear bag I got, but neither will my stuff.

I have been a co-op member since the early eighties but most of the outdoors stuff I use comes from discounters like campmor.

I was lucky enough to visit Campmor in New Jersey Last year. Cool store and great prices.
When I was there (9-7-01) I bought a big swiss army knife, put it in my carry on and then boarded the plane. I of course had my GPS with me too. Never thought twice about it. Never questioned once. I use the website and catalog now.

I believe the opening date is March 15. Someone should ask at the Feb meeting.

Well, speaking of finding deals online, I recently saw that Google is working on a tool to search for items for sale with a "Google" like feel. It is still in Beta and I sent them a note that without sort-by-price I would not use it.
Anyway, the address is Froogle.
I myself like Dealtime.com.

Later,
Ken

Kens right Froogle is pretty good (works like google but for shopping) and he is right I sure as heck wouldnt use it if I couldnt sort by price, no way I would thumb through 20+ search results to find the lowest price. Also I thought you could get a round not having a sort by price and put 0 to 100 in the find by price range and just turned up all the search results in a jumbled order.
Also Allen was that Bear rope bag the "bear bag" you supposedly ordered?

Ok, just for the record, if I'm anywhere within 10 miles of where bears may be, I'll be spending my nights sleeping in a motel. I don't want any bear disappointed 'cuz he can't get the food in the bag to come looking for me as an alternate food source. So I'm taking bear bags off my shopping list.

I just called the new REI store in Buford and got a recording that said the GRAND OPENING is April 4th. I imagine the papers will be chocked full of announcements and grand opening specials the week before. I can't think of any big-ticket items I need, but I'll probably be there to stock up on cache-stuffers.
