I haven't seen any sales, but keep your eyes open. I got a set of 8 Eveready NiMH's last year and they're performing great. Use them in the GPSr and the 2 FRS radios.

I got a recharger from Walmart that charges AA & AAA. It has a light to tell you when they are charged. YOu can charge 2 OR 4 batteries at a time. But best of all, it can recharge from an outlet OR from a cigarette lighter. Some of our favorite camping spots don't have electricity, so I was pleased to get this charger (with 4 batteries) for around $20 (regular price).

I've done business with Battery Supply (also known as Thomas Distributing) a few times now and I've been very pleased with their service and their prices. They have 2100mAh NiMH AAs for under $8 a pair.
I picked up a Maha C401 charger (AA & AAA, 1-4 at a time, slow or 100 minute fast charge, AC + auto)and there was a mixup with the AC charger the manufacturer included. It only took one phone call and they overnighted the correct one to me, told me to keep the one I had, and apologized for the error. Frankly, that was more than I expected them to do, so I continued to order from them and haven't been disappointed once.
