Ok, here's the link to the thread on the gc.com forum: Legend C Sale at Target.com

And here's the link to the site at Target.com: Legend C sale price

I'm sure this is an error, but figured I'd better jump on this in case it might actually be real or they decide to live up to their advertising. Money will be a bit tight for a while, but I hope to make a little more later on the back end...

This may just be a super deal that they decided to offer. I guess time will tell. To get the best deal, use coupon code TDWELCME2224 to get 10% off the purchase price.

Best of luck to everyone interested.

I went ahead and bought one. I've been eyeing the Vista-C, but saw almost no difference in the writeup of this Legend-C and the Vista-C. Guess we'll see if the order gets cancelled like the mistake listings so often do, especially with a ship date over 6 weeks away. Worth a shot at any rate. Thanks for the heads-up.

You guys did notice the Target ad picture wasn't a color unit which retails for $374. I'm kinda getting hot for one of those color jobs lately though so I may have to break down and order one too. I'm sending my Vista in for it's second overhaul and I tried to get them to trade up for the Vista C with no luck. Also just bought a couple of Etrexes on Ebay last week for cheap.

I've done this stuff before and only once did I end up actually receiving the deal. It was on a Dell PC (which I resold for quite a bit more on eBay days later). I also had several amazon orders for TVs and stereos that were completely priced incorrectly cancelled before they ever shipped. I anticipate this Target offer will be cancelled in a few weeks once the mistake is discovered. So I don't have my hopes up.

However, if by chance the mispriced GPS slips through the cracks and it's not what we thought we were getting, it can always be returned for a full refund. So IMO it is always worth a shot when these things popup.

One other related tidbit... sometimes if the sale gets cancelled you can call customer service and complain. It's been worth a few gift certificates to me in the past when its happened before.

PS: JB, the color Legend and Vista have both had $50 price drops recently on amazon.com. I know the Vista-C was $349.99 last week when I checked. I think the Legend-C was down to $289.99 at the same time.

It actually says nothing about the color expect for in the title. otherwise it desribes a legend.

Sure it does...

excerpt... Product Description
This handheld navigation device is easy to use while out hiking, biking or boating. With its color, sunlight-readable display, it features automatic route generations, off-route recalculation, turn-by-turn directions with alert tones and icon-driven menus for finding points of interest...

Also, the regular Legend, which I own, only has 8MB RAM.

I had to bite on this one. The confirmation says "eTrex Legend C Bonus Pack" with an estimated shipping date of Nov 27, 04. Time will tell, I guess...

The "mini-USB port" sounds like a good feature, since downloading maps over a serial link takes a long time.

It is. My 60CS has the mini-USB connector. Takes about 5-8 *seconds* to upload 480 waypoints.

By comparision, it takes 50-70 seconds to upload the same 480 waypoints to my Rino via serial.

Pretty darned *quick*. (Edited to correct who I quoted)

Oops, AG must have read over that.
Buying it for this chepoa and turning around and selling it on ebay sounds like a great deal except for the part of having to spend $180.
Let me know how it goes.

Total shipped for me was $167.19 or so. If it arrives and is what it's supposed to be, I plan on keeping it! This one is not to resell Wink Will sell my current Legend to recoup some of the cost.

The Target page now has all the info for the non-color eTrex Legend. When I go to my "order history" page, the descriptions there say "eTrex Legend C", but when I click on them to see the item, I get the non-color device pages. signal surprised

Still time to cancel my order, I guess.

I figured that would happen to the page, which is why I saved a copy of it as it was when I placed the order. I plan to do my best B*tchin' to get that Legend C, lol. If that fails, I'll cancel as well.

Yeah, I printed out copies of everything while I was setting up my order, just in case they say that what I bought was a standard Legend. Never saw a standard Legend with 24Mb and a mini USB port.

Still, they have the ability to cancel any of the orders that they think were priced inaccurately, so I guess we just have to wait and see how they want to handle the situation.

I just went ahead and canceled my order. I don't need any extra work.

But "YOU GO GIRL!" If anyone can make them comply it's you. I'm rooting for ya.

Frown Well, I figured this would happen...They cancelled the order. Here is the text of the e-mail I received:

"Unfortunately, the following item is not currently available
from any of our sources.

"eTrex Legend C Bonus Pack"

We have cancelled this item from your order.

Because you only pay for items when we ship them to you, your credit card
has not been charged for this item.

Therefore, we regret we will not be able to process your order. Your
order is now closed."

Oh well...I'll try to catch the next great deal! (I want to save my $$ for a GPSMAP60cs anyway!) Wink
