Not exactly a steal or deal, but just read that BestBuy is planning to end their rebate program and mail-in rebate program within two years.
Thank God!
I hate looking at their sales flyers and trying to find out what you'll really pay if you go there.
I stopped looking at their flyer a while back because of this.

Yes, rebates can be a Pain, but then *sometimes* it is worth the trouble. I bought a computer for my son from Best Buy at Christmas ... $700 less $400 rebate is $300 net. There were six!! separate rebates involved, but for that kind of money it is worth the trouble. The best deal I could find on a similar computer without the rebates was about $500, so for about 30 minutes of my time filling out coupons I saved $200 ... $400/hour after-tax money ... that's more than some lawyers make.

BTW, the checks all came within the stated time periods.

ChalieP,

I agree rebates can be great sometimes.
The thing that bothers me about BestBuy and some other retailers is when they have the price after rebate as the big bolded price and then what you will pay as the little print under it.

Just put what you will pay and walk out of the store with.
If it is an instant rebate, then fine, cause you will pay minus the instant rebate.
