That's pretty slick. Thanks!

It's pretty easy to use. The scrolling or directional movement or whatever it's called really works well. Makes it easier to keep track of what you might be looking for. Thanks for the link.

I saw the article in /. this morning and thought it was neat, but I couldn't find a way to enter lat and long.

You can enter coords in decimal degrees.
Being discussed here in the Groundspeak forums. |

Yea, I saw that, but as mentioned over there it doesn't put a marker, so only somewhat useful.

I posted to the groundspeak forum, but thought I'd put it here too.
Over at Hack A Day they had an entry about Geocaching with Google and Terraserver Cool how the form at the bottom opens a split map with terraserver and google maps. Kenneth |

Whoaaaa!!!
Google just added their keyhole technology to their maps. Google Maps Look for the Satellite link in the top right area. Now you can see satellite imagery of just about anywhere. I checked our area and see that the pictures are about 2 years old. Kenneth |

Someone in groundspeak pointed out a really cool item caught in a satellite photo.
Check out the object to the left of the pushpin: Google Map Edit: Actually I found alot of those objects: Google Sightseeing Kenneth |

Here's one taking off at Hartsfield.
I see what looks remarkably like decimal degrees in the URL. Hmmm. --------------------- Live Well, Harm None |

Rebel...it is. Mentioned somewhere in the groundspeak thread is that you can put in coords. I think the format is "34.000,-84.000". This is in Gwinnett. Kenneth |

Yeah I’ve probably spent well over an hour now scrolling through the satellite images. Found all the places I have lived among other things
One thing I found interesting was if you zoom in on Washington DC, the US capitol building and many of the buildings around it are intentionally blurred out. But the White House and Pentagon are not. |

Look closely at the White House. A little photoshopping was done to hide a few things...like maybe snipers on the roof. Kenneth |

Yeah I did notice the White house was not the right shape

I just heard Clark Howard on the radio this morning talking about another Google feature. You can text message Google from your cell phone, giving the address you're at and the address you want to go to. You will receive a return text message giving directions from one to the other.
As with most Google items, this one's in beta. Still, it's an interesting concept for getting directions without a using laptop or GPS. |

Yep...that one is Google SMS. Kenneth |

I think google is on the right track here... I would like to see some more features but it is already a very nice to use app.

Want links to Google maps/satelite on cache pages?
You can do it if you use Firefox and GreaseMonkey Scripts. A cacher from UK added capabilities for survey maps and I emailed him asking if he could add Google maps. Sure enough, he did. Here is the script: Geocaching GreaseMonkey Scripts He has a screenshot, but is focusing on showing the British Grid. Just above that are the Google map links. Kenneth |
