Based upon some of my postings in the Yahoo Groups I might be forced to return my Meridian Gold to Thales Navigation if I chime in about their software one more time. Ha, ha. Everytime I post to the group I get about ten e-mails back from others angry that Thales won't revise their software.

Here is the problem (in my limited understanding). The software only allows for a set number of icons in the Meridian and the Sport. They have used all of them up and fixed them in the units and the software. Garmin uses a different method to store icons and can add more as needed. Magellan needs to do a major rewrite of both MapSend and the Firmware for the units before they can roll out Geo Icons.

But be thankful that Magellan has spent so much time and effort rolling out a COLOR version of the same old tired version of the software instead of actually updating the one that ALL of us actually use.

If you want to read more go the the Yahoo groups.
