I just bit the bullet and "upgraded" my Nextel cell phone from my i90c to a 7520 Blackberry, mostly for work-related reasons.

I use the term "upgraded" loosely: I'll now be uber-connected with work, which is both a blessing and a curse; I have some nifty new features that I didn't have before on my older non-color non-image-displaying i90c; I lost the ability to use AIM; still have my direct connect capability. Overall, the pros outweighed the cons, so I did it.

Just curious if there are any other blackberry users out there who have located/found any nifty geocaching-related blackberry apps. If so, speak up! I've done some rudimentary searching, and haven't seen anything useful yet.

Meanwhile, me and my archaic i705 palm and cachemate will continue along for awhile, even though i'm lusting after a Tungsten E. Can't justify it yet.

I have one of those and like it, though it's started giving me "Fatal Alert" messages in the Excel application. Then I have to push the reset button to get it going again. It seems to work fine once I reset it.

I do wish I'd spent a bit more and gotten one that I can plug a WiFi card into. Apparently the current draw of one of those cards is too much for a Tungsten E to take.

I have an old 957 that is about 5-6 years old.
I could not find any software for caching.

I downloaded the SDK with intent to work on an app to read GPX files, but never got around to it.
Besides, the newer java based units would be easier to write code for.

There has been a recent explosion of blackberry devices so obvious people are buying them.
My guess is people are either using the web browser for search/logging or syncing up HTML files somehow.

If you post a message out in Groundspeak, let me know.
I'd be interested in the replies.

I've got a Treo 600 and I'm preparing to upgrade to the 650 in the next couple of weeks.

The ability to do what the Blackberry can do e-mail wise, coupled with access to all Palm apps and e-book reader with a great screen for the web made it a no brainer for me.

Found this thread out on groundspeak with no replies.

Maybe if ya'll respond (I'll do the same) then it might show that there is more interest and someone will write one.

Seems to run on the newer Java based units.
I got an older one.

Cymbaline...maybe you should look into it even though it is in alpha.

Well, I think the admins had rather not turn this forum into a Blackberry support area unless it relates to geocaching.
Try contacting Bob via his profile and maybe he will share.

I suggest any others that find this forum via search engines do the same.
If Bob is no longer at that address then you'll just have to continue your search.

Were you able to obtain a copy of the C++ SDK? If so, could I bother you to send me a copy?

Thanks in advance.

Admins...I suggest we close this thread.
It seems to be drawing non-cachers through search engines or something.

Thanks,
Kenneth
