The signal we take for granted is in trouble and it WILL affect geocaching as we know it!

The FCC waiver to LightSquared is only good if they work with the GPS folks to remove the interference.

The final report is due to the FCC in June and they will not allow LightSquared to turn on their network unless the interference is removed.

LightSquared is very financially motivated to make this work out and maintain their waiver with the FCC. They will change their bandwidth and get it all worked out with the GPS folks.

So there will be no change in GPS reception. Geocaching is safe.

There are way too many location-based devices and activities now for any company to be allowed to interfere with the signals. Not to mention the government would not allow GPS interference they use the satellites for everything too.

It will be an interesting story to keep an eye on.

Reagan gave GPS to the public.
Clinton made it so GPS signal will always be free.
Can anyone explain what the FCC charges are on phone bills, landlines and mobile?
