I headed out of the house this morning to do a few caches in the Dacula area and was met by something strange. I turned on my unit (Magellan Meridian Gold with V4.02 software), placed in the window of my truck and headed off towards Dacula. Unfortunatel ALL morning I had only intermittent signal lock. I had at least four to six satellites and even one WAAS but my unit would not lock and stay locked. I would get an EPE of about 30ft and then loose signal. Each instance happened a few times each minute. Around Noon my GPS locked in at a consistent 16ft EPE and worked fine the rest of the day. I heard that the President was travelling to Ohio this morning and wonder if 4th of July, President and a given Terror Alert had anything to do with my observations.

Anybody else experience what I had happen???? Anybody seen anything on the other boards about it??

I was out most of July 4th morning scouting caching hiding places and noticed nothing strange. Too many things use GPS for them to be messed with, from standard navigation to time syncing electronic funds transfers. Did you check the number of satellites in the sky and how they were arranged? That can make a big difference in the EPE.
