Just started picking up a new WAAS bird here in NW GA. Used to pick up 2 on the eastern horizon. Dropped to 1, now a new one is showing on the western horizon. Anyone else seen this?

In the geocaching forums there are tons of posts about da gov'ment moving bird 35 west and adding two more birds in the future. Moving bird 35 took about 60 days and wreaked havock on WAAS reception in the eastern US. During that time 35 was hard to lock onto and from what little I understand it was not broadcasting correction data. I guess if it was moving slowly across the sky it would be hard to broadcast correction data at the same time. "hey I am 1.349587673829294858582 micro seconds away from Atlanta, no sorry I am 1.32562883742374927349879384 mirco seconds, naw I meant I was . . . " You get it. I don't even pretend to understand what is going on but there has been very spotty WAAS correction in the Southeast since December.

The Coast Guard appears to be responsible for civilian use of gps signals. Their website has a bunch of information on it regarding civilian navigation and the changes to gps signals.

Sounds like if they go from 2 waas birds (one over the Atlantic and one over the Pacific Ocean) to 4 over the United States then we win big time.
