garmin has announced a new go geocaching feature and new HC gps. has anyone tryed this new feature yet and what do you think of it?
Below is a partial press release from garmin.

OLATHE, Kan./May 31, 2007/PR Newswire — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced it has refreshed its eTrex series by adding a high sensitivity GPS receiver to this popular line of outdoor handheld devices. The new models include the eTrex Vista® HCx, eTrex Legend® HCx, eTrex Summit® HC, eTrex Venture® HC and eTrex® H. In addition, Garmin has unveiled a new way to load geocaches to the eTrex series and many other Garmin handhelds.

“The eTrex series is the ideal compact guide to the great outdoors, and now with the high sensitivity GPS receiver users will be able to acquire and maintain a GPS fix more easily,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide sales. “The eTrex series is also fully compatible with myGarmin’s new Go Geocaching feature that makes loading geocaches a snap.”

In conjunction with the eTrex products announcement, Garmin has also launched a new “Go Geocaching” feature on https://my.garmin.com. The Go Geocaching site simplifies downloading geocaches to Garmin devices and eliminates entering latitude and longitude coordinates manually. All geocaching data on the Go Geocaching site is from www.geocaching.com, the most comprehensive source of geocaching information and caches.

Well, I did try the new "Send to GPS" link on the cache pages, but I get an error message
quote:

We currently support only Garmin™ GPS units.

Gosh, and I thought mine was a Garmin GPS. Frown

I guess they mean only modern Garmin units....

You have to download the Garmin Communicator plug. There are some bugs with it..it tends to round the coords and drop the last digit. Once the get th kinks worked out it will be nice.

I tried it this past weekend and it worked just fine. I did not get rounded off coordinates either. I can't imagine using this for inputting very many at a time. My mind needs a cache name on the GPS display and this tool gives you the GC number.

But for the quick go, perhaps a FTF attempt, it seems to work well.

Don't say you can't, say you'll try.

I like the GC Number. But I only use is when I only want to hit a few caches in a specific area.
