I got a contract offer today for a 2 month project in Japan. There are 30 caches in Japan, but it seems to me I read somewhere that there are some countries that will not allow you to bring a GPS into the country.
Does anyone know if there is a listing of those countries anywhere? I did a general search on the forums but didn't find anything, and considering the attitude that seems to run rampant on the forums, I figured I ask a more civilized group (namely GGA) before I exposed myself that that bunch. . . . without a cache. |
You should be good to go. Even the taxi drivers use them to find their way around town.
See ya on the hunt! |

I was going to suggest getting the profile of a cacher in Nipon and emailing them. Sounds like a great assignment to a great country. I was there in the military for two and a half years back in the late 60's - early 70's. I was outside Tokyo about a 30 minute train ride. I'm sure things have changed in the past 30 years. I'm envyous! Have fun!

I really wanted to accept the offer. I'd love to visit Japan, and the $11k/month paycheck looked good too, but they wanted me to ship out in 48 hours. In my industry, doing a "cut and run" by walking out on a present employer with little to no notice is essentially professional suicide. I'd never get another contract, so it looks like I won't be going.

Sorry to hear you had to decline a lucrative offer, but it sounds like you made the right choice; career-wise.
