For those that MUST deactivate WAAS, perform the following keystrokes (not approved by Magellan and may lock up the receiver): MENU, Right, Left, Right, Left. A "00" box appears. Rocker up to "03", Enter. Another Enter will deactivate WAAS. Esc, Esc, and then power off. (This is important; other keystrokes may lock up the unit). To turn WAAS back ON, rocker back up to "03" and press Enter.

you don't need to turn it off in Atlanta, however if you are far far away from a waas base station you could gewt very bad results.

I read somewhere that it might save battery life if you disable WAAS, but never tested myself.

Somewhere I posted the hacks for this and others.
Maybe near the start of this forum.

On my Rino there is a simple menu option for WAAS in the settings. I accidently turned off and couldnt figure out why I was having trouble finding caches and why my batteries seem to last longer.
