can anybody recommend a Data Recovery firm to get information off of a dead harddrive? Our server went down at work and I have been struggling to get it back. Will probably have to put a new drive in it and reload NT4, but really need the info off of the old disk.
Any recommends?

I've not used them, but I've heard they do a bang-up job. Recommended to me by some folks, so I'll pass the recommendation on to you. Not cheap, though. Kinda pricey.

Drivesavers

Tech-TV did a short segment on them that was favorable. It'll be interesting to see what other recommendations you get from some of the tech-heads.

See ya on the hunt!

Had a tech-head look at it and we see that a chip on the controller card has fried. Would be simple to just replace the card from a like harddrive, but Quantum is now out of business. Does anyone know where I can find a card (or the whole drive) for a Quantum Fireball lct 4.3GB AT (3.5 Series)???

There could be one there, as people tend to sell anything there. Check computer shops that led you trade in computers or sell old ones.

Check "MicroSeconds" ... it's on Roswell Road, north of 285. They have a lot of used HD's, you might get lucky.

Couldn't make it down to Microseconds this weekend, but did find 3 of the same drives on EBay for 16 bucks each. Got one on the way, so hopefully it will do the trick. If not, it would probably be more cost efficient to reenter the info (we have paper copies) rather than pay $595 - $2200 for recovery by specialists. They can't give you a price until they have it in their hands.
Word of advice - BACKUP OFTEN!!!!!!!

BACKUP, or you will eventually be sorry!

The controller card swapped from the EBay drive did the trick. I was able to get all of my information off of the dead hard drive and I'm out of the doghouse. My backup regime has been upgraded tremendously, tho.
BACKUP!

Maybe you should change your id to phat.bakup........sorry...couldn't resist.

Glad you got your data back without taking out a small business loan to pay the restore companies.
