Is anyone writing waypoints directly to an SD card?
I am getting pocket queries and spinning them using GPXSpinner. I then run them through GPSBabel to get Magellan formatted waypoints. I then copy the waypoint files to my SD card and pop into my Meridian. My problem is that somewhere along the way (I think in GPSBabel) the icons get hosed. When adhoc caching in an area I usually target caches by their icons (standard, multi, micro, etc) so they are messed up. Anybody doing something like this? I have been looking for a way to get downloaded caches from EasyGPS to Mapsend Streets and Destinations. Have you heard of a way to do this?
I couldn't find anything on the yahoo groups about doing it either. Now I have to download from EasyGPS to my MeriGold and then from my MeriGold I download to MapSend. Unfortunately I hold my breath every time I do it. One of these days the whole thing is going to crash and corrupt all of my waypoints. |

quote: You should be able to use GPSBabel http://gpsbabel.sourceforge.net/ to do this. Just save your files from EasyGPS as GPX and run it through GPSBabel with output as Mapsend. Of course, if you are getting Pocketqueries from geocaching.com, you can just skip EasyGPS. But, if you have personal waypoints you have put into EasyGPS, you might want to still use it. I have a single GPX file with some waypoints such as my home, my dads, etc. that I keep. The pocketqueries never touch EasyGPS anymore. I will say that you should be careful when using EasyGPS and ExpertGPS as they do not always use the full structure of GPX and you could lose certain fields of data when converting around. I have created batch files that I can just drag my GPX files onto to "spin" them with GPXSpinner and them "babel" them with GPSBabel for direct Magellan waypoint files that I drag to my SD Card.
