The atv Segway is here! I viewed this link with alarm at first. "Oh my Gawd! Now all the candy a..es will be doing the real caches!". I could picture kneeling and signing the log of a new found cache off the AT when a supercharged lithium iodide kaddlehopper Segway sails over my head hits the ground, does a neckbreaking 180 turn throwing a rooster tail of mud and debris 50 feet in the air. "Here it is meemaw, some other feller done fount it fer us!"

On the other hand, I guess you could run a mobile charging unit with a generator all over the mountains. Maybe bootleg a little beer and get stinking rich!

Most parks/recreation areas do not permit motorized vehicles on their trails, so still alot of caches will have to be found by foot/bike.

And yes, you can fall off.
I'm speaking from experience as Andymand has the regular model and I got a little tricky with it in my front yard and dumped the thing on unlevel ground.
Caught a handlebar in the rib and must've cracked a rib as it took two weeks to stop hurting when I breathed deeply.
Of course they are really safe and simple unless you get crazy like I did.

According to Andymand, in most states the regular segways are allowed on sidewalks as they are categorized similar to the three-wheeled mobile assist devices (Rascal?).
Local juristictions can override.

i drove one at the RV show a couple of months ago. i asked they guy what kind of incline they would go up-like can they go up a mountain road that requires a 4 wheel drive. the guy looked at me real funny like and shook his head. i couldn't tell if that was no head shake or a yes head shake. anyway he said they are designed for farmers etc. to go across fields and stuff.

now kenneth i am not making fun of you but you have to try real hard to fall off one of those things Laughing

Well I guess I tried hard enough. Big Grin
I was on the 2nd key which goes faster and I was getting pretty confident, so I guess I got what I deserved.

I enjoyed the website, but got PO'ed that the price was nowhere to be found for any of the Segway models. I guess if I have to ask I can't afford it.

Well, Andy had to drop around 5 bills...and I don't mean the hundreds.
Not sure but I'm betting the offroad models are more.
