I am looking for a HANDHELD GPSr (preferably Garmin) that gives directions via VOICE (IE "Turn right in .7 miles, keep left in .7 miles, turn right" I really like the voice option on NROUTE) as well as screen update. Currently I use a Garmin Vista and have it hooked to my laptop PC in the car (using Mapsource and NROUTE (to acheive the voice directions)). I want one handheld unit that I can download maps into, select a place to route to and then have the GPS instruct me on how to get there. Any input would be greatly appreciated, I hate having to bring the PC along for every long trip.

The Garmin Ique is a Good one for multi tasking. I use the 3600 and its great for navigating. I wish I could change her voice but yeah she tells you where to go. Its not a great Gps for the outdoors but you can buy external battery packs to prolong the hunt.

Thats the hang up is the battery life outside of the car. Ive never really used it over an hour without sticking it back in the car. On that Ebay Place they sell an external battery pack you can stick recargable batteries in so that it can virtually last forever or as long as you have AA batteries for. You can get a 1 Gig card for it to hold just about as many waypoints you want. I use cachemate with it but im sure many other programs work.
