I thought this might be the GPS V replacement.

The good
It has color, 115 Megs of memory, faster processor, USB port for fast transfers.

The bad
It has an internal rechargeable battery which can't be changed in woods when it dies.
It can't be rotated for both car and hiking usage.
It's flip-up antenna means it can't be placed in your pocket while hiking.E

IMNSHO the cons would outweigh the pros with respect to caching.

I'm a bit curious about color. Do color displays eat batteries faster, or is there no noticable difference?

I'm sure it will have a cheaper street price, but the MSRP of $642.84 (why the .84?) would make me lean toward their unit geared more toward caching Map60C and the cheaper MSRP of $482.13 (what's with the cents).
Not to mention I've seen the Map60C units in action.
If I just had the dough, I'd have one now.

I suspect this is a "tweener" unit announcement, meaning they're going to be coming out with something(s) else here shortly.

It's price puts it below the StreetPilots, yet above the GSPMaps 60/70s...

I think the cons outweigh the pros: Who cares about the memory if the danged thing dies on you? Which leads me to belive they've got something else in their pockets.

If it's a GPSMap 60CSR, I'm gonna be one unhappy camper, period. Or a StreetPilot-Minus.

The price does seem high, but realize the quest comes with the City Select Maps MSRP $139.27, an AC adapter MSRP $20 and Vehicle suction cup mount MSRP $31.80

So to compare the Quest to the Map60C you have to add these costs in which boosts the Map60c to $673.

True.
Does the Quest do the geocaching icons with capability to time/date tag your founds and automatically set a goto to the next nearest cache?

Those would be cool features. I've been improvising a bit with my III+. I use the "Information" icon for Mysterys, "Ghost Town" for Virtuals and "Live Theater" for Multis.

When I find one, I rename the waypoint from GC* to FC*. Then take a look at Goto -> Nearest.

My MapSource topo software has "Cache" and "Found Cache" icons, but they evidently aren't supported by my unit. Anyone know what models first had these as options?
