"Motorists should be aware of Georgia's new driving laws." Effective July 1st.
* Pickup Truck Safety Belt law that is currently in effect requiring both driver and passengers of pickup trucks to buckle-up in their vehicles except for certain farming exemptions.
* Teen Cell Phone Driving Ban. Prohibits drivers under the age of 18 with a Class D License from talking on cell phones OR texting while driving.
*The Texting While Driving Ban. All drivers 18 and older who possess a Class C driver's license cannot write, send or read a text message, email or use the internet on any wireless device while driving.
Then there is the "other side" or spirit of the law. As a firefighter, I have cut several people out of vehicles who were "texting while crashing." ...And of few of them were dead.
That was there decision. Just like drinking, talking on cell phone, changing the radio, fiddling with their Tom tom or add your own distraction here. My point is I don't need some dic tot telling me what I can or can't do in my vehicle. I have a brain and can decide what is safe for me. I don't do most of what I listed anyways so a texting law won't affect me either way. I can tell you one thing, it won't stop 90% of people from texting while driving anyways. People are going to do what they are going to do.

Yep. But by making a law saying "you can't", the gov't indemnifies themselves against lawsuits from families of victims of careless drivers. Follow the money.
