I picked up a really big ammo can yesterday to use as a tool box. Pic of similar can below. Image removed
When I got the can home and opened it it was full of what look like styrofoam rods. Each about 9 inches long by an inch in diameter. The look like styrofoam but are made of much stronger stuff. Each one is marked "53711-5167216." I can post a pic tomorrow if that would be helpful.
Besides giving me evil cache ideas does anyone know what they are?

I have a box very similar to this. The size looks about right and the cost the same at the Forest Park Army/Navy store. Mine doesn't have the diagonal brace yours has and the lid locking device is slightly different. Mine was used for transporting white bag charges for the 155 mm howitzer.http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/155.htm. I use it to carry small surveying equipment in the back of my pickup. It is waterproof. I also use it as a base for my camp stove when I want a pot of coffee and a bowl of chili out in the field. ng

Just for your info. Army Navy Store in Stockbridge and Forest Park have the same owner. Sometimes one has an item that the other does not. They will check for you and transfer to the other store if need be. They both have a good supply of the regular ammo cans.

I bought some boxes from the Forrest Park store . They have a wide variety! While there I showed a lovely young lady behind the counter about geocaching and left a pamphlet with her. She seemed excited to try it. The main reason for this post is so I wont be a Lurker- LOL
