Here is a little project that I have been working on durring my geocaching brakes. I have taken apart my factory headlights and installed HID projectors off an Acura TSX. This is the first time I have done this and it its turning out pretty well! I plan on having this done within the week.

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!

I just picked up there shrouds....More work will be done once I receive the shrouds!

well I took the lighting system (HID - High Intensity Discharge) that are found on high end cars - Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura, etc. and I'm installing those headlights in my headlights, as my car does not come with them.

Well, it's the "Non - Geocaching Topics Forum", so you should only slap his hand for bringing up geocaching. Wink

I wanna see him rig the lights to the steering linkage to shine into corners.

When I saw your first post I was saying the exact thing Geomuse said.....WHAT??!!!

But now I get it you have fancy headlights like high end cars. Do they turn around corners like they do in the commercials? That would be cool!

Also did you have to cook it in the oven???

to get the lights to turn with the steering wheel it very complicated! I thought of trying that but it would just be easier tobuy a BMW. the cost of doing that would easily be 4 time the amount I have already spent (which is already too much).

the reason I put the lights into the oven was to warm up the seal so I could pry open the light. had I not done that I would have had to use a head gun and that would have taken a lot longer!

On the car message boards I talk on I wrote a step by step guide on this but figured that would be a little too much for this site.

I can't wait to have it done as the light output I have right now is very bad!

glad to see that you are enjoying my work.

... I edited the quote ... this is a family site.

Sorry it didn't work out the first time, but you'll figure it out.

All you needed to do was let air out of the front tires and put air in the rear tires, right? Wink

Just kidding. Glad you got it sorted out.

Know anything about Sylvania SilverStar and SilverStar Ultra headlights? I've got a coupon for $5 a pair of the first, $10 off a pair of the Ultras. The headlamps in my Land-Rover are just terrible.

well maybe if i took the heavy system out of the trunk it would work!

As for the Sylvania lights I have heard mixed reviews about them. I personally have never used them but would say give them a try.

I upgraded my old Ford from 6 volt neg ground to 12 volt.
I took advantage of that, to upgrade the dim headlights to a more modern headlight light system.
I install lights that incorporate the finest European technology. They have the advanced
HB2 halogen bulb and polished reflector. Its 2 piece design is trouble -free bulb replacement.
All of this is in the old 7" round headlight set up. Now I can see where I'm going.

^^^Ahh ok, well thats pretty straight forward!

Well I took apart the headlight (left side) friday night and fixed my problem, resealed them up and and installed them sat. I then washed the car, which was the first bath it has had in 3 months!!! Once I got the light installed I went out on a photo shoot! ENJOY!

Ohh and on a final note I took the orange reflectors out and swapped in the clear ones....they will look better now and when ever I get around to painting the car. (another color...shhh)
