This is reminding me far too much of the Columbia disaster. The video is chilling; despite its poor quality, there is no doubt as to what happened. I think we'll all remember where we were today.

My prayers will be with the astronauts and their families, as well as to those to whom will fall the grim task of sorting through the debris and looking for answers.

All I could think when I saw it on the news was "not again".

I was surfing stations in the car, and hit 96Rock just as I pulled into work. I caught the DJ in mid-sentence, and all I heard was "NASA, all astronauts are feared lost", and I thought "What, are they doing a retro news reel or something?"...so I went inside and fired up the browser...wow.

A phrase used after the Challenger disaster:
quote:
They have 'slipped the surly bonds of earth
to touch the face of God.'

and now they are at His right hand.
I shed my tear on top of Springer Mountain viewing His splendor.

This morning right before I woke up I had a dream that one of the space shuttles had gone missing, that it just disappearred from the sky with no trace no expolusion or anything and then when I rolled over on my dog (which woke me up) I heard "The space shuttle Columbia..." and I was listening to the Ap News report on Star94 and I thought oh my gosh I just dreamed this but was much relieved to discover that it 10am and I had been listening to the news for an hour which I assume gave me that weird dream.

Godspeed to the crew of mission STS-107, or thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
