Has anyone heard about the movie/documentary
America's Heart & Soul that is being released tomorrow (July 2nd)? Not to open a political rumble, but why did Farenheit 9/11 get so much hoopla while this movie hasn't even been mentioned in the media? Of course I do know that the answer is politics. I just wished people would get as fired up about what America is really about....it's people, not the politicians. Anyway...maybe it will be in theatres in the Atlanta area and somebody can see it. If I can find it in a theatre, I'll try to go. After some searching, I found trailers on Disney's site at America's Heart & Soul Kenneth |

Three theatres are listed as showing it tomorrow in the Atlanta area - UA Tara Cinemas in Atlanta, AMC Barrett Commons in Kennesaw and AMC Mansell Crossing in Alpharetta. If you go to www.fandango.com you can get the show times by searching on the movie name.

I think THIS MOVIE should be seen by anyone who ever sees Farenheit 911.

I won't see Fahrenheit 9/11 or any of the other politically inspired/biased films ... for the same reason I will not have a lobotomy anytime soon ... I would rather think for myself. National level politics has become too much like a British soccer game, with fans
willing to fight at the drop of a hat ... over what? ... brand loyalty? It would be interesting to do a survey on voters opinions about the Iraq issue and see how well the opinions correlate with domestic political affiliations. I would expect about 95% correlation, both sides. So it seems that very few voters are actually evaluating the issue (or any issue?) on its own merits. I would be worrying about the effect of all this emotional irrationality on the stability of our republic ... except there is a lot of evidence that such irrationality has been around since 1776 ... a civil war in the 1860's being the best example. But then, maybe that's a better reason to worry. Stepping off soap box, CharlieP |

quote: Haven't heard much about it, but I like the idea. Of course it seems like more mud-slinging though. That's why I'd like to see the America's Heart & Soul, it seems to be more about patriotism and not politics. Kenneth |

Anyone who has a problem with F911 should read this over and over until it sinks in.

quote: Well...I said I did not want this to turn political. I merely wanted to know why one movie was getting more media coverage than the other. I could post many a things here, but I will refrain. Thanks for the link though....another read of this document solidifies my views. Happy 4th, Kenneth |

Thanks for the link Ken. I was wondering where it was playing in Atlanta.
For reading material, I sort of like some of the comments from Newsweek and the New York Daily News. Of course, rights granted in the Constitution don't specify that you have to tell the truth I guess. |

quote: That's correct. American politics is a pain, ain't it? Here's another view. As for the initial question, it's probably all the media hype about the Moore film that is driving the other film in the background. The media is two businesses as I see it. Disseminating information and selling papers (or airtime). A lot of times the second overrides the first. It's popular to bash Bush at the moment and the media is supplying the demand. --------------------- Live Well, Harm None |

This is beginning to look like a political discussion ... should refrain ... but ... just can't help myself. But I will try to keep it in the middle of the road.
A lot of folks tend to defend the Constitution very selectively. The folks who now have their shorts in a twist over Moore's right to free speech will quote the first part of the first amendment. But the same folks will protest the influence of the NRA, although that is clearly protected in the second part of the same amendment, the right to assemble and petition the government for a redress of grievances. IMHO, much of the so-called campaign finance reform also stomps all over the first amendment. There are many other examples of selective constitutional application and interpretation. But the bottom line is: what good is it if it can be interpreted and applied with such selection? You must either defend all of it, as is, or forget it. FWIW, CharlieP |

quote: Ah. The "shock" factor along with the "popular" thing to do does drive the media hype. Oh well...glad it made him alot of money. Just hope all those people who went to see it don't use it as their only source for information on determining their vote. I didn't get to go see America's Heart & Soul yet, but maybe I can get out of work early this week to catch a matinee. Did anyone get a chance to see it yet? Kenneth |
